I've noticed there are a lot of threads about food. I think it would be a good idea to create a new forum in the General section dedicated to food to keep these threads out of General Chat. What do you think?

Ouch!

I don't see a problem with the presence of these threads in GC.

Then why do you see a problem with the presence of sports threads in GC?

Ouch!

Sports don't have their own forum, though, do they? It's paired up with a lot of other recreational activities that, altogether, merited the creation of another forum. I don't think there's enough unique food thread that it's flooding GC and warrants a new forum.

Ouch! is right. There isn't enough discussion on them to warrant a new forum.

Right, then why can't we make food threads in the Lounge instead then? GC has more activity than the Lounge anyway, perhaps it would benefit both of the two forums if some of the threads in GC were fed (pardon my pun!) to the Lounge.

I think the food threads bring flavor to general chat so they can stay.

Enough puns, really. ; ;

I don't think that food threads would be out of place within The Lounge which tends to deal with the media and sports. Films, books, music, television and sports for The Lounge. I think the food threads are fine in General Chat; it's not like there's a huge amount of them anyway.

Yes, yes there is! Or there could be. I would post in the food forum every single day. :greenie:

We could just have a "What are you eating right now (only post one in ten)" thread.

General Chat isn't exactly flooded with food threads right now.

I once made a thread about 4 years ago asking people to post their favorite cookie recipes and only ShlupQuack replied. After that I've been discouraged to all food discussion. If you CKs made a food forum I would probably post in it.

If there is a large proportion of food threads then a food forum will be possible. Until then please keep all food threads to general chat.

Although food threads are a common occurence in GC, I don't think there are enough 'original' threads about food for a food forum. They're often the same threads repeated every few months such as: "What's your favourite snack?" or "What are your favourite girl scout cookies?" or "What's your favourite fruit/vegetable?". :jess:

The thing about foods is that there's only so many different kinds when you don't use/consume/photograph them for a living. GHF had a food forum and you can see how it is not there now because people ran out of food to talk about. Frankly I'm thankful.

This feedback is making me hungry...

As previously stated, there isn't enough food-related discussions warranting the creation of a new forum on the topic. Until then, food threads are perfectly fine in General Chat.

I'm going to make like 500 food threads then.

I will respond to all 500 of your food threads!

As long as these threads are legitimate threads with very separate topics of discussion, there is no problem with that. However, food is still a general topic and it's highly doubtful that enough discussion can be generated from it for it to have its own forum. Keep in mind also that members are not allowed to create mass amounts of threads with the same topic over short periods of time. :choc2:
