Very cool. I started playing a translated copy of DQV recently and it's quite enjoyable.

For some reason, I have never liked RPG's with that view for battle. Not quite sure what it is, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I can never really get into the games. I've forced myself through a few of them, like a few Phantasy Star games and previous Dragon Quest games... but I just don't like them.

This is good news. Does anyone have information on the release of the Dragon Quest IV remake for the Nintendo DS in North America? If they are going to release the Dragon Quest V remake, then...

Nice, I thought you didnt like DQ, though, Roto?

same, but for Dragon Quest for some strange reason I can live with it.

I don't, particularly, but other people do so here's some happy news for them.

ANYHOO

I don't know how I missed this, but:

ESRB rates Dragon Quest IV, virtually seals U.S. release - DS Fanboy (http://www.dsfanboy.com/2008/04/18/esrb-rates-dragon-quest-iv-virtually-seals-u-s-release/)

And today:

Dragon Quest VI already trademarked in U.S.? - DS Fanboy (http://www.dsfanboy.com/2008/04/28/dragon-quest-vi-already-trademarked-in-u-s/)

So, Dragon Quest fans, get excited. :P

Good to know =)

I always wanted to play DQ IV, V, and VI. I've only played I, II, and III and those were great. Problem is, we probably wont see these games in the US till next year =(

This is great news. Finally, I will be able to play Dragon Quest IV, Dragon Quest V, and Dragon Quest VI with a slightly more updated and modern feel.

Even European Dragon Quest fans seem to have reason to be happy!

That was for the NES though. I don't have an emulator to play it

Do we have any information on the release date of any of these titles or only indirect confirmations of the releases in North America and Europe?

I just never got into Dragon Quest/Warrior except for DQI... The games just seemed so bleh.
I also didn't like the battle's view.

It must be an acquired taste. I'm not saying they're bad games; I just disliked them.

Very awesome to hear this is confirmed. I have FFIII and once I buy these I guess I should look at buying a DS. xD

A close friend of mine loves this game. I might buy this game and a Nintendo DS for him.

Anyway, does anyone know enough about the game to tell whether or not they removed the other party members' AI in Chapter 5? That part of the gameplay seemed a little strange to me.

The PSOne remake included the option for manual battle commands in the tactics, much like the newer entries in the series. I would assume that this functionality would be offered in the DS version as people dislike the AI-only tactics of the NES version so much.

Great news but i was going to import the U.S. versions anyway!:D

Well now you don't have to import it, because it's coming out in Europe around the same time. :P Cheaper and faster that way.

Hmm,i don't know...compared to the high rate of the UK pound maybe the U.S versions will come cheaper...but at least it's good to have a choice!:)

Square Enix Officializes Dragon Quest DS Remakes news from 1UP.com (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3167915)

They also sneak in that DQIX will be coming out on November 20th. I don't think that was publicly announced before. Jeux-France (http://www.jeux-france.com/news27460_dragon-quest-ix-date-us-.html) says it too.

I don't think they've announced a release for Japan yet either. Could this be another in Squenix's 'release it as soon as it's out in Japan' trend? This could bode well for a FF13 simultaneous release.

This is all very good news. But I have to say there's just too many damn DS RPG's coming out to handle.
