It's only a simple question of preference, but it's still a debatable issue:

HEADPHONES

OR

EARPHONES

I'm a bit undecided on the issue right now. I've been borrowing a pair of really nice headphones from my roommate and they pretty much ruleeeeeeee.

Earphones makes my ears hurt, the sound is crappier and they break more easily. The only thing they've got going for them is that you don't look stupid wearing them, more practical during workout too.

Neither, they all end up hurting my ears in the end.

They're only more practical if they actually stay in, of course.

I prefer headphones, definitely, for the same reasons as Lev listed along with the fact that I don't like the idea of shoving something into my ears. I particularly don't like it when people offer me their earphones to listen to their music. Ew.

Those little earbuds are terrible. When I got my iPod, the first thing I did was put the earbuds in a drawer somewhere and use my headphones.

I actually think earphones have better sound quality, but ive heard theyre worse for your ears than headphones.

I use headphones for my computer and earphones for my mp3 player. Its hard for me to choose between them because they both have alot of pros and cons. Headphones are bad in terms of portability to me so theyre perfect for the computer and the earphone wire is too short and it would be bad for my ears considering i am at my computer for very long periods of time.

Though once I got this double wire thing that allows me to attach 2 sets of audio output devices into one socket, and i put my earphones on and put the head phones over them. Now THAT was an incredible sound experience. Clarity of earphones with the power of headphones

I feel like an alien being wearing headphones all the time. It's usually huge. I like earphones better, because I can hide it inside my hair and listen to it while in class or something. :kaoclove:

I'm pretty ambivalent when it comes to this. I like both, although I don't own any headphones at the moment.

Headphones have better sound quality, in my opinion. Earphones just hurt after a while.

Headphones because of the lack of hassle. But I can handle both.

I like the ear phones that have the little hooky thing that goes around the ear so they don't fall off. I usually use earphones to sleep and what not, and in past experience headphones are too bulky to have me be able to listen to music AND sleep, where as GOOD earphones are comfortable enough to let me be able to sleep and listen to music.

I haven't had headphones since foreverrrr. I don't mind either of them really, earphones are more compact, but you can get pretty headphones, I think...

my head is too small for headphones but earphones have a hard time staying in my ears. I hate my body.

Um, earphones.

headphones tend to be too small for my ginormous brain x.x;

but I don't really use either

For exercising and on the go - earphones.

For everything else, if you can afford it, a really nice pair of Bose Headphones.

Didn't you read the paper? Honestly you should be able to call them whatever.

I think everyone can agree that overall headphones have the better sound quality, yet earphones are more convenient.

Speakers can really suck sometimes because you didn't get the full on quality of a song. The first time you listen to a song with earphones/headphones on you hear parts of that same song that you've never heard on speakers before and it rocks!

I think of them as earbuds as well. I hate them and find them horribly uncomfortable.

I prefer these.

Earphones ftw. :)

I use headphones (or more accurately, a headset, as it's only one earphone and a microphone) for work.

I'm gonna have to go with... The compromise. Earphones when in public and headphones when at the computer or whatever nefarious purpose they've been commissioned for. Especially the big pillowy kind that gives one the impression that a bunny is hugging one's head.
