What's your problem? You effectively called his girlfriend loose. Really, you need to learn the difference between making a joke and infringing on someone's personal pride. You are quite insulting sometimes. Learn when to shut up. Think before you post. If you can tell that someone's being more serious about something, don't take the piss. I'm not referring specifically to this incident, it's happened very frequently.

I know what you mean. I'm bisexual because I just have no preference. I don't care whether you have a penis or a vagina, what matters to me is how compatible we are. Alot of people make me so angry when it comes to this but sexuality in itself isn't a bad thing, it's other people who make it look bad. It makes me mad.

True bisexuality (meaning you are similarly attracted to both males and females) is very rare especially in men. In general most people have a significant preference for one sex over the other. And in cases like that, I'm not sure if you can still define that as true bisexualism, but it's hard because not everyone agrees on the definition of bisexuality anyway. If you define bisexuality as any degree of attraction for to both men and women, then a whole crap load of people can be identified as bisexual. Those who show roughly the same amount of interest for males and females is not common at all. And very uncommon among men.

Northwestern University did a recent study where they advertised for males who identified themselves as "bisexual". But when these men were shown erotic images of both men and women, every single participants showed a much greater genital arousal for one sex over the other.

If you study the genital arousal of women, you can come to the conclusion that most if not ALL women are "bisexual" (if you go by the more loose definition of the word). Most women show genital arousal when shown erotic videos/images of both men and women, regardless of whether they identify themselves as heterosexual, lesbian, or bisexual.

I'm heterosexual. Sex-wise, I can see the appeal in being with another woman. Personality-wise, the idea of being in a romantic relationship with another girl is terrifying. Girls are insane sometimes.

I've noticed that these days it's seen as the cool new thing, to be bisexual. At school I've seen a burst of people - especially girls - who come out to be bisexual. Yes, people may be bi, but a group of female friends suddenly become bi at near enough the same time? xD It's crazy.

The term is "bisexual chic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bisexual_chic)" I believe? The whole thing started with Ziggy Stardust in the 70s.. Oh, what celebs/people do/say to get attention.A similar concept is the "trendsbian"...
What a coincidence it is that I realize this thread is in General Chat after I vote heteorsexual male.

I'm a lesbian because I like women. :jokey:
Make whatever sense out of that as much as you can."Lesbian" doesn't mean "anyone who likes women". A lesbian is a woman who is attracted to other women. If you declare yourself a lesbian, you're calling yourself a girl:p

I think it is pretty normal to check out both sexes while you are still figuring who you are yourself. I personally have never wanted to kiss a girl or be intimate with a girl, but I do notice pretty girls and pretty guys. I think our over sexed media hype ends up making us very aware of who is "sexy" no matter what sex they are.

Poor Hannah Montana is getting crucified for showing her shoulders!!!

In a media circus like that, no wonder young people get confused...

And, I agree with Miriel that bisexuality can be really hard to define. It's just one big grey area, really, but what it comes down to is basically sexual attraction.

I'm heterosexual. But I've only had experience with guys so far, never with other women, so who knows what would happen if I ever try it?

I've read somewhere that the majority of people are actually bisexual, just at varying degrees. Some will be 50% male/50% female, others 80% male/20% female, etc... Of course, since it was an article on the internet, I'm not certain if it was reliable or not. :)
I like this post.

To me, the definition would be "desiring to have sex with", as in "if you saw an attractive person of this gender, would you desire to have sex with them?" Relationships is a different level, to me. Some people don't prefer to have relationships with either gender, but are still more than happy to have sex with one or both genders.

Personally, I have no desire to have homosexual sex - it personally repulses me. I also don't get aroused when looking at males, so I guess I'm just one of those kind of guys.

My theory is pretty much what you said, though. It's basically that girls are far more likely to be bisexual than males, while males are more likely to be homosexual than females.

I'm straight, but I'm pretty comfortable with my sexuality overall. I have a homosexual roommate who recently came out of the closet. I'm not sure if I necessarily believe in bisexuality or not, so I'm indifferent on that issue.

There is nothing anyone can say to make me believe that homosexuality is a complete choice.

Heterosexual female here.

I'm of the personal opinion that humans have bisexual tendencies by nature but society tells us that this is unacceptable. We're raised to think that it's wrong, so we ignore the tendencies. I think they all "discover" it around the same time because they all begin to realize that they're genitals are not going to rot and disinegrate.

Or, you know. They could just be trendy douchebags.

I agree that some people have bisexual tendencies by nature but society tells us that this is unacceptable, but I don't agree that it applies to all humans. That would fly in the face of what homosexuals are declaring to be scientific evidence that some people are "born gay" while others are "born straight". It would also not explain homosexuality in general, as I understand homosexuals often have no attraction to the opposite gender at all.

Maybe it is that way for girls, though. Coincidentally, I read about this kind of thought process today in the Metro. They said that researchers have found that while heterosexual males generally are only aroused when presented with images of naked women or heterosexual sex, all heterosexual females were aroused from all kinds of images, including that of homosexual male sex and homosexual female sex.

This all fits in with my original theory that guys are more likely to go for one gender or the other while females are more likely to be bisexual. The results of the poll suggest the same - the percentage of males that state they are homosexual is far higher than the percentage of females that state they are homosexual, while the percentage of females that state they are bisexual is higher than that of their male counterparts.

To me, the definition would be "desiring to have sex with", as in "if you saw an attractive person of this gender, would you desire to have sex with them?" Relationships is a different level, to me. Some people don't prefer to have relationships with either gender, but are still more than happy to have sex with one or both genders. This definition renders me asexual.

Which brings me to an interesting (but relatively rare) phenomenon: asexuality in humans does exist. Some people are not stimulated by any "erotic images." Some people are not attracted to guys or girls at all. It happens. GIVE ME MY POLL OPTION.

I was actually thinking about this as a 7th & 8th option however I didn't put it in due to the feeling that a lot of people would consider it the "funny option" because people here are silly. It turns out they used Homosexual Female as that instead, but yay for whoever "devoted" those people from the poll.

I think asexuality is definitely out there, though it didn't fit in with the reason I made the poll. I do wonder though, if females are more likely to be bisexual and males are more likely to be homosexual, which gender is more likely to be asexual? Maybe it's even.
