Go with something curly!

My prom is in the end of June, a few days before my 18th birthday/graduation. I'm going to curl my hair. My dress is a blue-ish color. I love it. It'll look really nice with my dyed red hair. I'm probably going to get silver jewelry and accessories. I'm going to be wearing flats since my dress is long and will hide my legs. :jess:

We're going to a night club in NYC after! Woo hoooo~ <3

i dont watch many masquerade type movies so i dont really know what styles there are.

maybe you could post yourself in your prom gettup so we could see what to work with

Oooh, prom, I hope you have a good time n.n

Iunno if I'll go to prom my senior year. It could be fun...plus it's a major part of the whole high school experience. Thing is, I can't dance and I have no interest in learning.

I'm worried that if I go there people will try to make me dance like they always do when I go to these things, and when I repeatedly refuse to dance they will think that I am mopey and lame and determined to have a terrible time. Is it so terrible to want to go and just listen and observe?

Would it be weird if I went without a date or friends? Because mine aren't going xD

My school had a prom.

I went to my highschool leavers prom in 2006, with one of my best friends as my date. It was a great time, because it was the last time that everybody from school spent all together before heading off to different colleges and the like. I wore a long pink dress. It was at a nightclub in Ipswich called Zest.

andddd I went to a ball in Feburary 2007 with my ex-boyfriend for his University ball, and wore a long red dress. It was at a hotel, included a 3 course meal, casino games and dancing - which was also fun. I'm not in a hurry to dish out a load of money for another prom/ball anytime soon, though. :jess:

i dont have a picture of me and the dress yet, so i cant show you guys. but my hair reaches my shoulders.

My girlfriend and I said "smurf ALL OF YOU" and did our own thing, which was infinitely superior to any half-baked, media-driven poppycock that is prom.

I'm doing the same thing, only I'm single. :D

I didn't like my senior prom (2005), but I did like my dress; unfortunately, my stupid shoes scarred one of my feet, and it snowed while my friend and I waited outside for her parents to pick us up. I didn't smile in any of my pictures.

I still have my dress, though! I meant to wear it to my ex-boyfriend's senior prom - one year before mine - but he broke up with me just a few weeks before his prom and took a different girl.

My ex-homeschooler prom equivelent is in two weeks! I have a dress (which is black and purple and fits me like a glove, a thrift-shop gem <3), and now I need shoes and make up and blue hair dye so I can feel like a pretty princess <3

Whatever you do with your hair, start experimenting now, so you know how it'll turn out with time to fix it if it looks bad.

I went to prom last year. I had a pinkish strapless dress. I went with my boyfriend at the time and was with him only a bit of the time. I dumped him the next week but meh xD

This year I have a brown and white dress and I got some really cute heels. Going with a group of friends this time around. But I have the same dilemma, I have no idea what to do with my hair. I'm not the girly type I don't do my hair often!

Not going to prom because it's $50 per ticket, plus the cost of a dress, shoes, any accessories, hair stylist, afterprom, etc...

waaay to expensive, and I'm saving my money for England funds~ Which means shopping spree soon ^^

I just went to prom to hang out with some friends. It was pretty fun, but it's only a dance. Have fun though!

I decided to not go to prom this year. It costs around 30 dollars and the nicest dresses are in the $300 range.
Plus they wouldn't let me bring my boyfriend along, seems some girl two years ago brung her 23 year old boyfriend and got everyone smashed.

So those 21 and older can't go.

D=

I decided to go next year, because senior year is free. :]

I love dressing up though, and I feel it'll be important, a once in a lifetime kind of thing (or twice really haha) and I don't want to miss out on it, and spending time with my friends.

Have fun at prom! =]

I went to my high school senior ball in '01, it was ok but fairly half-arsed.
At uni I went to the ball thrown by my hostel while I was staying there.

I skipped Graduation Ball, since I graduated in December but the ball doesn't happen till next graduation, in April.

Aside from those academic 'proms', I've been to a handful of medieval or renaissance balls put on by the re-enactment community. Those rule - superior food, dance, drink and company compared to the regular kind.

I didn't go to my prom. Or my graduation. And I didn't buy a yearbook for my graduating year.

prom is a 'gift from the junior class to the senior class' at our school so for seniors it's free, and the juniors do a million fundraisers.

afterprom is a gift from the junior parents to their kids so they don't go out drinking!

I went to three proms. Pottsville 2006, Pottsville 2007 and Greenville 2007. I think that's plenty 8)

All of this talk in here is making me jealous! Y'all have such cheap proms. Prom is going to be so expensive for ME! I'm lucky, I guess I'm lucky that my Mom is covering this because I'm actually going to a school social event which makes her ecstatic. But of course, it'll be held over my head for about 5 years, which might not make it worth it.

My ticket cost $100 dollars. My dressed cost close to $300 dollars. The limo bus we're taking costs $150 for each person, since it's a really nice one with plasma TVs and club lighting and 360 and private rooms in it. The night club we're going to is also over $100 dollars. And I don't even know how much other things are going to cost, like hair and make up, because the place I usually go charges $60 for just a hair cut, and I'm getting my hair curled and stuff. Over all, it'll probably end up being around $800 dollars.

Christ, so expensive. xD

Nor in Denmark. We have "galla" parties instead, but I guess they're somewhat similar to proms.

I'm quoting Rye rye because her final tab (which looks to be over 600 bucks?) might cause her to fall into this trap:

As amazing as it is to be a high school senior, the high school prom is not a big furry deal. I didn't go to MY school's prom because my schoolmates are tossers, but I did take my friend to her school's prom the next year (which is cool cuz like, I can drink). What I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't expect it to be amazing (this advice goes for any social outting btw). However proms can be so damn fun you still remember it 10 years later (TEN YEARS? DEAR GOD)

Proms are fun when you go with people you like, and do things you enjoy. I remember the following about that night:

- very awkward posing for photo (the configuration of our arms behind the scene was not fun for me)
- casual conversation
- dinnertime (thankfully quiet)
- and

CARAMEL DANSEN (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veQ-qs6p-Ok)

I totally lost track of how many girls I danced with, and yes, I did have a date (dude one girl can't dance all night; if she can, she's a keeper). Girls who don't have dates will almost always say yes to dancing with you (speaking to any guy going to a prom), and if you two get along, BAM you have a date that is guaranteed not to be a bad date.

And then after that, we went to have the booze and after like six shots of rum I passed out ^^;

Whaaaa? Only seniors and their dates can go to prom at our school! Tickets can be pretty expensive, too! Like anywhere from $30 to $75...or maybe I'm thinking of yearbooks >.>

I had my prom the other week back. It was awesome. Had a lot of fun. :D Cost us £35 for the prom itself, and then my friends and I chipped in to get a limo - £22 each. Expensive. Not to mention the dress and the makeup... xD
