If four valiant youths were fighting the last boss to save the Earth, just over the horizon, it might look something like this.

Wow that looks freaking amazing. That's definitely a final battle setting, or at least a final battle attack.

Do you have the source of this?

Was this picture a recent development? I have seen this photograph outside of this context. I believe that I was told that it is a bolt of lightning striking during a volcanic eruption.

A long-exposure photo of a volcanic eruption often gets a brilliant photo like that. Whole lotta electrical whatsit goes down in that kind of environment.

Certainly does look like something out of a game, too. All it's missing is the generic 'huge guy with wings', and we'd have ourselves a traditional FF final battle:D

According to a post by The New York Nerd (http://nynerd.com/), this was a recent development in Chaiten, Chile.

Thundaja + Firaja?

That would definitely cause heavy damage and inflict several status effects.

You know, not many FF final battles have taken place outdoors...

You know, not many FF final battles have taken place outdoors...And for IV and V, and from VII to X-2, they didn't even take place in the real world. It was always in some kind of ethereal realm or other-worldly environment...

That's at least a thundaja lol.... Or even more powerful :D

However, FF VII DOES take place on the real word... well, actually not, but when Sephiroth casts Supernove you see how all the real planets are wiped out, and finally, the sun touching Cloud and pals... on planet Earth. (it says the name of the planets...)

(it says the name of the planets...)This is just one of the many side effects of Supernova being the most retarded battle action in RPG history. Final Fantasy VII does not take place on Earth.

ff4, ff5, ff6, ff9, ff10, ff10-2 (I think), ff12 (I think)

of course a lot of those were 'in space' (4, 5, 9, 10)

X-2 takes place underground. 12 is definitely outdoors (On a battleship).

No I-III on that list? Well FF I, I guess is up in the air since it is on the same planet just another time.

As for II It's on the Palace of Hell that materialized on Earth and III was in some undisclosed location (probably a shrine) in the dark world

But that's all technicalities I guess. :p

Guys, we're getting boring.

I bet some sort of bishie is about to emerge from that evil cloud, laughing manically. I bet it's Barbie's eviller brother.
