View Full Version : A question for my fellow Jessicas!

When someone says "jus' 'cause" kinda fast, does it grab your attention?

It drives me crazy! It happened three times today, and I was like, "whaat?"

Topic for not-Jessicas:

What phrases that sound like your name bother you the most?

I always hear my name, even though I can't think of many things I could confuse it for. :(

'Wipe your feet on the mat'

It gets me every time.

If your question didn't involve revealing (or hinting at) my real name I would answer it...

One of my roommates has a girlfriend named Westney.

This causes problems.

Since my name is just the male name "Shaun" with an "ah" sound at the end, if anyone around me says "Shaun", it gets my attention, since it's almost my name. :p

When people shorten don't to dun. I have to look over. When they say, "I dun get it." I keep thinking they're saying, "Don get it."

"Hey pan toes!"

"Not you."

Jessica.

No, really. Someone will say Jessica and I'll turn around thinking they're saying Kessica.

My name is Lawrence.

"Go rinse--"

"Low ends"

"Norris"

These are just examples when they are said fast. Other than that, people usually call me by my brother's name (With "Little" in front of it) if they don't know me. . .

Imagine how I feel when someone says the phrase 'just in' in a sentence.

Nothing really sounds like Kristian..

.. maybe the Danish word for "christian" (=kristen), but that's about it I guess?

EDIT: Of course, when it comes to English, every sentence with the word "christian" in it makes me turn my head. Quite annoying to actually have a name that's a somewhat common English word.

Ouch!

Imagine how many times I hear 'Will'... even if I'm not hearing anything someone's saying, if they say something like 'I will have a look' I go 'What?'

Also, Willpower was named after me.

My dad says he wished he had spelled my name like that. Just to cause me more grief at school. xD People can't pronounce my name as it is, imagine the pain if it was spelled "Seana". :(

You've lived in Illinois and say soda? You're a true hero.

With the name John, you really don't need phrases similar to your name to annoy you.

Brittney throws me for a loop expecially when the girl who says it knows i turned to her. Usually I try to play it off somehow

Anything with a hard 'K-O' sound at the end like echo (which my classmates usually call me)

I won't list them cause they're all tagalog and I don't think any of you would understand a word.
