the frame rate kind of gets on my nerves, but its a beautiful game with a lot of very epic boss battles. the game is made almost entirely of them.

It's probably the only video game I would ever dare call a masterpiece, and you should play it.

I don't think there's a better game on the Playstation 2.

The Shadow of the Colossus is a phenomenal game in every respect. It's got a depth and spirit to it that's hard to find in a game, and it tells its story in a manner unlike anything else.

Be warned, though - if you like games that follow a similar format, and keep to stereotypes and preconceived notions of how a game "should" work, then SotC is *not* for you. This is a game that makes you think, explore, and wonder. You're not spoon-fed with hints, tutorials, or answers to all the FAQs.

It's an amazing gaming experience, one that you're not likely to forget. So, just go out and get the game so that you can play it already. Go go go!

I had read lots of positiveness of it on the net, so I bought it in a used shop. But it wasn't for me. I found it insanely boring, not much unlike Ico. ;) The only good thing I've got to say about it is that it's got good graphics, but graphics mean very little to me in general, but especially when everything else is lacking.

People are different.

I liked it. It's sorta like Zelda 1 on the NES when it comes to navigation, if you ask me. You have a slight clue of where you're supposed to be, now walk around randomly until you find it! :D

It's very, very, time consuming, so watch out.

Come on. You basically have an arrow that points to your target. Check it every now and then and you're good to go. :P

It works like that for the first 3, but later mountains and forests are put in places to confuse you. :p

Great game but a little short. Considering whats there is such quality it makes up for the short length.

I'd still put Ico way ahead of SOTC game though. Get that as well/instead.

Buy it and love it.

Love the horse. Love the music. Pick a favorite colossus and cry when you have to stab its brains out. And for the love of love play it over and over again and wonder why videogames arent like this anymore.

I'd rent it. It's great and all, but there really isn't much replay value to it. Once you know all the little tricks to defeating all the Colossi it's not as epic as it was the first time.

At first I was a bit disappointed, but then I grew to love it.

I agree. A rental is the way to go with most single-player games, if you ask me. Unless you get competitive with scores.

I'd say the game has massive replay value, what with the harder difficulty, the 'time attack' and subsequent bonus items, which can radically alter the gameplay.

 Oh god, what are you doing asking about whether you should buy Shadow of the Colossus?!?

Its a beautiful piece of gaming art with wonderful storytelling epic battles and it actually makes you think. Pick this game up and Ico (its like $30 nowadays to get both of them used) and enjoy one the best experiences the PS2 has to offer. The battle against the flying and aquatic colossi are beyond description.

I've never played it but if it's anywhere near as good as Ico then you should definitely buy it. Maybe I should too...
