Would you play songs at your funeral that even make people cry by just listening to them or are you the kind of person who wants to go out with a blast? It could be theme song from the Titanic or pehaps you would prefer the Banana Boat Song by Harry Belafonte to make everyone shed a tear but with a smile on their face, remembering the good old times.

What would you play at your funeral? :mog:

my sister played Angel by Sarah McLachlin at my nephew's funeral.

I'd probably take a page out of the book Cold, Sassy Tree and have them sing select verses from Blest Be the Tie That Binds a la [major character].

At my funeral there shall be nothing but Death Metal. I just want whoever's running the event to say "And now a moment silence as we play the deceased's favourite song" before Hammer Smashed Face starts belting out.

I'm not having a funeral!

Ouch!

I also would prefer to not have a funeral, at least nothing so structured that they play a specific song or track list for me. If people feel it's necessary to remember me, they can have a party.

I would want happy music to be playing. Or something. I wouldn't want my loved ones to cry. I'd want them to be happy even if I'm gone.

Song called Hallow by Pantera. I think I would like that song.

Or maybe Trenchtown Rock covered by Sublime.

If I had them play Tears In Heaven, do you think anyone would throw themselves on my grave?

Megadeth's A Tout Le Monde, maybe.

There's Apocalyptica's Farewell too. Just perfect for the last moments in my funeral

Untitled 1 by Sigur Ros
Motion Picture Soundtrack by Radiohead
Nightswimming by R.E.M.

Any of those would do for my funeral. They're all beautiful songs.

I'd play dead.

Or, "Everytime I Die" by Children of Bodom

I'd try to match different pieces of music to the different emotions I'd want to evoke.

Ralph Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y7nJL1hpUU) to provide an atmosphere of hope, life and reflection

Rikki's performance of Pure Heart (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyAilWb3VH0) for poignancy and life's end

Russel Watson's cover of Faith of the Heart (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGgp21-uHrw) for inspiration and courage

I'd be tempted to throw in something as a memento of my geekier side, as if the last two on the list above weren't enough. Probably something like FFX's Hymn of the Fayth from the Sending scene, or an orchestral arrangement of Amazing Grace, or maybe even a bagpipe rendition of Walking on Sunshine. It'd be almost like an in-joke for me.

Nobody's going to go to my funeral, so it really doesn't matter.

I want them to be playing Blur's "Song #2" as they catapult my coffin (with my corpse flipping them off) out of a helicopter hoping to god it it will land in the hole they dug for me. If I don't land in the hole, they can just leave me be and let nature take its course. I also want all my belongings burned to ash and I include my loved ones under the definition of "belongings" . During this part of the funeral I want them to play "The Flame" by Cheap Trick;)
