I'm sure you know that song by USher that was big a while ago, "Yeah" featuring Lil' John and Ludacris.

There was a line that went "If you hold the head steady I'm gonna milk the cow" however on the Radio here in Idaho, the line was censored and was heard "If you hold the ___ Steady I'm gonna ____ the cow"

Now I don't know about you guys, but me and all my friends agree that lyrics sounds oh so much more wrong with those two words censored out.

Any similar censorship hilarities you would like to share?

The entirety of Let's Get Retarded, censored to Let's Get It Started. Not that it was a good song to begin with. Then there's s Simlish version from The Urbz where they actually do sound retarded.

I swore to god when I heard the uncensored version the first time I thought someone had written it to make fun of the censored version. XD

If it's kind of unrelated...oh well, but the TBS (now peachtree version) changed Bruce Willis' famous line in Die Hard to 'Yipee Kiyay, my friend'.

In the episode of South Park where Jimmy has a steroid problem, and in a rage he pushes his entire bag of drugs aside yelling "S**t!", bleeped of course because it's a Comedy Central show. It amuses me because it's meant to be a pretty emotional scene and the bleep kills the mood, presumably on purpose.

Also this (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zNWbFqebvgY).

walmart censors are pretty good. thats also why i dont pay for the cds i get there.

sometimes theres a beep sometimes a dampner and then even when they do it you can still hear what the word is....

like the blanked the middle of the word so you still got what it sounded like

On Radio 1, they used to censor the word 'drugs' in Nickelback - Rock Star, but today I heard the 'uncensored' version, so they seem to have given it up as a bad job.

one of Red's funniest monologs on That 70's Show was when he went down to hyde's house to chew him out (and later offer him a place to stay, i think) and interspersed with his vulgarities were more beeps, leading one to wonder just what worse words did red come out of the war with?

I read that apparently a radio station once tried to play the Super Furry Animals song 'The Man Don't Give A F**k' and censor all the uses of the F-word. Needless to say, not much of the song was left XD

hahaha my parents accidentally bought the censored version of a Limp Bizkit CD once xD

Oh, the expletives that flew from their mouths!

(It's not funny, really, but I just love the censors on Samurai Champloo n.n)

Tell Me Baby by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They changed "Life can be a little sweet and life can be a little :skull::skull::skull::skull:ty" to "Life can be a little sweet and life can be a little kitty."

Kitty? What the frack?

I heard a censored radio edit of Adam Sandler's "Ode to my Car."

It was funnier than the real thing.

I am always highly amused by the psychedelic colour/invisible phallus thing they do in yaoi. It kinda takes away from it.

I have absolutely no interest in yaoi, but I can't help but wonder what exactly you mean when you say that. :p

The Summoner of Leviathan

Slightly explicit, read at your own discretion. (Sorry mods if this is TMI).

Where the phallus is supposed to be there is nothing, it is rather defined by bodily fluids or a hand gripping "air" or the edge will be slightly opaque-ish. Sometimes the empty space is filled in with trippy, psychedelic colours. It is quite weird.

I see. Is that intentional though? I've heard of some romance anime movies using intentional visual euphemisms for the male and female genitals, which I suppose was to differentiate it from hentai. (That's just my guess though.)

The Summoner of Leviathan
05-17-2008, 06:39 AM
Entirely intentional. It is due to Japanese censor laws. That is why you have blurry/pixelated phalli in visual novel CGs and weird black bands through the head of phalli in doujinshi and manga.

Hmm... I've seen plenty of uncensored stuff as well (I've been around 4chan before :p), how does that come to be, then? Is that from underground hentai or hentai that somehow goes under the radar? xD

It is quite possible. On /y/ there are some stuff that is not so censored, but most of it is. Though you can get uncensored stuff but that is often things that have been released in the USA. Like Sensitive Pornograph OVA or one of the very few visual novel games.

Momiji
05-17-2008, 06:51 AM
(Like I said, I have no real interest in yaoi, so I never went into /y/.) The times I've seen it is when someone posts it in /b/ or /h/ or something. I do notice that the male parts are censored than the female parts though. I'm guessing the laws are stronger for male imagery? xP

The Summoner of Leviathan
05-17-2008, 06:54 AM
I'd have no idea since I have no interest in the female genitalia thus do not look at hentai stuff. I'd guess so? Trade notes? ;)

Roto13
05-17-2008, 03:33 PM
There are harsher laws for manbits in Japan, yes. :P That's why the tentacles exist in the first place.

I'm not interested in any of that stuff and I know that. ;P

Anything anime related has terrible censors. Just watch Cartoon Network for anime and begin for the head slapping to commence.

I also so Die Hard 2 a while ago, and the scene with Bruce Willis in Harlem with the sign that reads "I hate N*****s" was redone to read "I hate everyone". I laughed at how ridiculous it was in changing it to THAT of all things.

usually in manga the frenum/foreskin edge gets censored with a bar, but in anime the entire thing is just mosiac'd for your safety. It's not limited to anime, but any media. It used to be worse (pre-1991 had pubes banned!)

I heard a censored radio edit of Adam Sandler's "Ode to my Car."

It was funnier than the real thing.

which one? There was a extremely bleeped single and a car noises single.

it wasn't redone, infact that's the original sign. the racist one was made during postprocessing. Also that's Die Hard with a Vengeance, which has a hilarious TV edit all over the place anyway.

I watched one subbed episode of DBZ, and Gotenks said "damn" like, twice in every sentence xD

I thought it was weird that AS froze the subtitles on WHAT'S UP PEOPLE?! but they didn't bleep out the f-word, which you could totally tell was in English anyway.

Well it shows I've never seen the original. I was just watching it and my brother was complaining about the censor. The racial sign made much more sense in that scene though.

I love how there's ruddy great chunks missing out of Scrubs over here. For things that aren't even censor-worthy. It makes me sick how the idiots at Censorland have taken it upon themselves to censor everything that was ever created.

Also, MILF made me cry laughing.

Adam Sandler's Ode to My Car was hilarious when I first heard it - the censored version on the radio. When I finally heard it uncensored, it was less amusing. But then, I heard the censored version at age 12 and the uncensored at 18, that might've affected it a little.
