What can you see yourself doing in 10 years? Where? :kaolove2:

In England, hopefully starting my career or a family.

Hopefully either a well-known Games Developer, Voice Artist, Actor, Comedian or a combination of the four.

Two chicks at the same time, man.

Probably settled down with several kids and an oncoming divorce.

I'd probably have two kids by then. Yay, babies!

In 10 years, I should be a well established photographer with a studio of my own. My plan is that 10 years from now, once I've really found a successful niche in the market, that I'll use that steady source of income to support myself and my family while I pursue other genres of photography. Specifically, set photography.

I will be an engineer or a video game designer. Maybe something else. I would like to be an engineer though.

I have no idea what's going to happen tomorrow.

Chances are in 10 years I'll be in a comfortable but boring position within the IBM world, or some other computer/IT related company.

Answering another "Where the hell will you be in 10 years?" thread.

Ouch!
05-15-2008, 02:52 AM
Hopefully a wildly successful author. I'm not holding my breath.

Musing on where those letters my former teachers were supposed to send me are. You know, the "Write a letter to your future self" ones? I could have sworn I should have gotten one by now. I certainly should have them all by then.

Probably a copy editor in a publishing house, still trying to pay off my college debt.

Being my ideal age for a human, 27! But uh... maybe I'll be playing shows... for $. Oh. And maybe a historian.

Oh yes, though I guarentee you will not be the one having that fun. *smiles* But thank you for bringing the knife for me, mine have.........disappeared.

In ten years, I don't have much of an ideal. Hopefully in some carreer having to do with Chem. or Physics. Of course something could always happen to leave me lying in the ground, but thats beside the point.

yeah but look at it, ill be in the closet of everyone who reads this thread in ten years to the day, which means ill be omnipresent which means that you can hurt me with said knife. logic wins!!!!

A drumline and brass instrumental instructor for high schools. Maybe I'll work up a few middle schools.

Or. Finished with my music shenanigans and settling in my high-paying job as a statistician, probably as an actuary (working for an insurance company).

I decided a few years ago I wasn't going to look any further than about six months ahead ;o too much further than that and my psychic powers go kaput

hopefully I'll have a job and a husband and maybe a kid or three.

I don't plan that far ahead.

Me neither. It's very hard for me to imagine where I'm going to be in 10 years.. that, and I don't know what I want to do with my life.

Probably married to the slightly nerdy guy from the office I got off with at the Christmas party in 2009. :p

If all goes well and according to plan, by then I should be a vet. No kids, possibly a parter.

But really, I'm somewhat unsure about how things will turn out.
"I'll row the boat but I'll still let the stream guide me" sort of thing...

Maybe, a call center agent or owning my very own business. I could be living overseas, dateless or not. Or I may be a lazy, but intellectually smart bum in the streets. The future is an uncertainty.

Oh my god, I'll be nearly 26! I'd want to have settled down, even be planning to marry, I'd also want children around this age too.

Career wise; I haven't got a clue!

Well at least you have ambition! I'm 26 already, and not done any of that. In fact I'm pretty much the same as 10 years ago except with a job and slightly less shy :p

In addition to my further comments, I'd like to add that my manager asked me the very same question during my performance review. I was like...

I really hate that question, but I stand by my earlier answer... Hopefully I'll be a 'coach', or in police/local government by then. :p

Whenever I get that question in a review (or interview) I'm sooo tempted to say "well hopefully I'll have moved on from this place and got a proper job" :p

But yeah, it's always a stumbling point that one, especially when the job is a bit of a rut anyway and they're expecting you to give the obligatory "loyal to this company but further up the career ladder" response. Sometimes there is nowhere to climb up to other than management or another job. What if I'm perfectly happy in the current role and don't want to "progress the career" and become a manager?

Hopefully I'll be on my way to designing my first video game! :)

I'd say it's more fulfilling to start your own business. Then when you climb another rung on that ladder it's directly proportionate to how much effort you're putting in. When you work for a company, you can get fired for all your effort.

I'll be 28 in 10 years, so I'm hoping I will be:

1) A college graduate
2) Have gotten a teacher job in High School teaching at least, and...
3) Have obtained a Master's Degree, and possibly trying to get a PhD because...
4) I'd like to do some type of college professor type teaching and you obviously need a degree beyond a BA. Depending on what type of position you want as a college professor, you'd need to have a Masters at least, and a PhD if you want full-time tenure.
5) Married
6) Pregnant, because I'd like to have a kid in my late 20's/early 30's, once I've gotten done doing all the stuff I'd like to accomplish as a person who doesn't have to take care of a child.

Career, wife, kids, house.

I mean, I really look forward to having a place where I can raise a family and have a giant copy of the Star Wars: A New Hope poster hanging up in a frame.

Also I want to be saving and investing and making the kind of money that I can go into early retirement on, or at least start my own business. No sense in working longer than I have to if I can invest smartly and live off investments (unless I get to work somewhere I really enjoy!).
