Alrighty, console-lovers, I like my FF's and Dq's as much as the next guy, but I have a proposal for you guys, try a PC RPG. Ah not stuff like Oblivion or Morrowind, but an exlusive title. The PC Baldur's Gate, Wizardry, Might and Magic, Ultima, maybe even Dungeon Siege or Arcanum? Seriously, I strongly adive it to give a try.

Now, you guys suggest stuff, this is a suggestion thread.

Guild Wars: Nightfall, if you stick through it, it will be the best GW you ever play.

BG I/II, Fallout I/II, Arcanum and, if you can find a copy, Planescape: Torment are probably your best bets when it comes to PC RPGs.

Baldur's Gate? More like Boredur's Gate.

Anyway, Gothic. Best game series ever, if you're in to that sort of thing. That's my mandatory suggestion.

Didn't bore me at all. Its one of those games where I'd sit down to play for a couple hours and wind up losing a whole night. Had this weird atmosphere about it that drew me in. Too bad I never beat any of them. Still awesome games. Also pretty much the only PC RPGs I've played lol :/

Which isn't saying much.

I still like to pop in some of the older Krondor games every now and then. XP

There are plenty of good RPG Maker games out there made by amateurs.

RPG Maker games are designed to imitate console JRPGs, so they aren't really what Laddy is talking about.

I love JRPG's, guys. But CRPG's are my second love, and they are dying out.

Those. Seriously, I hate to just quote someone else, but I have no other suggestions. Those are the only straight-up PC RPGs I like.

I don't think that's really a valid statement considering the ongoing massive popularity of MMOs, as well as the efforts put forth by companies like Bioware (Mass Effect) and Bethesda (Oblivion, Fallout 3). They definitely aren't anything near JRPGs.

I played Arcanum for about twenty minutes once...it looks kinda neat.

Greatest computer RPG ever remains Septera Core: Legacy of the Creator.

People have already said it but it needs saying again, any RPG fan must play Fallout 1 and 2. Forget the original Baldur's Gate though and just go straight on to Shadows of Amn, it's superior in every way. Then there's Planescape:Torment, they don't make them like they used to. :(

I quite enjoyed Divine Divinty too. :D Oh and Knights of the Old Republic.
