I'm just wondering why won't my FFX work on my Playstation 3? I just got it shipped straight from SE and there seems to be no problems. My PS3 has 40 gigs and no problems. Can anyone help me?

The Emotion Engine is only present in the discontinued 60GB version. The 40 and 80 GB PS3s use software emulation, which is known to have issues.

EDIT: Meaning that some PS2 games will work fine, but they can't all be guaranteed to. Not being a PS3 owner, I don't know if FFX is on the list of problem games, but a phone call to Sony should clear that up.

The 40 GB PS3 doesn't have PS2 backwards compatibility at all.

QFT.

I'm not sure why they removed PS2 support from the 40 GB model when it's emulation anyway. Hopefully you kept your PS2.

True that.
The 40gb is the poor man's PS3. I think it's wrong, the way they market that one. They should print in big 'ol letters "NOT BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE" right on the box.

People have come to assume sony systems are all backwards compatible, ya know?

The larger PS3 also requires a software update if I'm not mistaken.
