So I was watching an LLG attempt for FF7 in which the player decided to take on the optional fight versus Reno and Rude in Gongaga (and not save so as to preserve the low levels) and noticed that Rude's last pose before he ran off (he sticks his arm out and checks his watch) was ripped off from Denji Sentai Megaranger, right before the characters transform (they stick their right arm out, yell something like "Install! Megaranger!" then click this wrist-mounted gizmo open and punch a few buttons).

Actually I just found out that Denji Sentai Megaranger was on TV the same year FF7 was released; it started on February 14th 1997, and FF7 came out January 31st 1997, so I guess that's out. Crap, that makes for a damn strange coincidence. Oh well.

Maybe it's just my love of sentai and tokusatsu* getting in the way, but I still think that's pretty cool. Does it happen around any of the other games that anyone's aware of? Let's all share!

I'm pretty sure I recall someone copying the Zyuranger henshin pose as well, but I forget where that was. Ah well.

YouTube - FFVII Hard Mode Mod - LLG Attempt - Reno & Rude (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=y2dhe65Vv58) - I'm pretty convinced Rude's copying the above cheesy pose at 1:00.

Just a coincidence. I mean looking at your watch is a very universal motion. That pose of holding out an arm and looking at a watch is from LONG before Power Rangers and Sentai. Heck the positioning of the arm is very close to a Roman salute.

In short, there's only so many poses one can do with the human body. :p

All that Rude's doing is looking at his watch before buggering off, as if he's trying to say "I'm leaving 'cause there's somewhere else I need to be, not because I just got whooped". He's cool like that.
