We just had a bit of an epic lightning show at our house. We threw open all the curtains and the door (but left the glass door shut) and watched the lightning for an hour. Dad talked about how it would wake him up with ringing ears after cracking very loudly, and I talked about how the thunder would set off all teh car alarms in the parking lot at school, and then I sat up when a very large bolt came down right in the view of the window and the after-image remained burned into my retina for at least a minute afterward.

He tried to do some cyphering on how far away lightning was based on light vs. sound but could not remember the precise numbers to make his figures worth a flip.

thunderstorms?

(distant rumbling thunder is pretty sensual imo. It must have something to do with staying up late reading So Long and Thanks for All the Fish (the part in sony walkman). back in my formative days)

I remember one night a few years ago we had a terrible storm with lightning like every five seconds, completely knocked all our electricity out. We opened all the windows and doors and just enjoyed the sight of lightning accompanied by the sounds of rain, wind, and thunder. It was lovely.

Yeah, thunder is pretty much the best weather ever.

I was out in a thunderstorm playing golf once. It suddenly hit, so we had to stop playing.

We were leaving a camp site when it started to rain. The winds were insane so if we didn't push past the waves, we'd be stuck in the middle of the lake.

If you know how lightning works, you know sitting in the middle of the lake is a terrible move. We got the heck out of there asap :o

I don't really like lightning bolts. Its kinda scary. A few days ago, something went crackling outside, thought lightning hit some random house. There was also a time that a huge white light suddenly flashed outside our house, lucky enough nothing got hit. I only see lightning bolts when its raining/stormy.

You'd need a high speed camera to get a picture of lightening, unless you're really really lucky.

I hate thunder and lightning. Is that what a thunderstorm is? we call them 'thunder and lighting' :p

We've had some thunderstorms in London over the past few months. I saw a few buildings get struck at one point while I was on the tube, which I thought was awesome until I remembered I was on an electrified rail myself.

I don't think I've ever seen a thunderstorm.. We're so behind on all the cool weather :(

Excuse me, my eyes have popped out of their sockets. Did you see where they rolled off to?

Thunderstorms are awesome. I love watching lightning from over the mountain. I don't like the noise or that the power goes out and I'm left in the dark though.
