I'm pretty much set on what version I'm getting. I'm getting a 40Gig, most likely. Cheapest one available, and I still have a PS2, so the lack of backwards compatibility doesn't bother me.

Now, the reason I want a Ps3 is mainly for MGS4. My brother also wants to get Soul Calibur 4 once it's released. But what else should I look into getting that's either out, or pending release? GTA4 is a no-go, though. It just doesn't interest me.

So, games to look out for?

I had alot of fun with Ratchet and Clank Future, so you might want to consider picking that one up. It may be the fifth interation in the series which hasnt changed much, but that only goes to show how great the series is that it still manages to be more fun than all the other original IP's being released.

As for upcoming releases, Valkyrie Chronicles looks very interesting. Even if you dont like SRPG's this one is trying to mix real time action with the strategy so dont dismiss it so easily. I could go on for a while on upcoming releases but alot of them are a long way away. But MGS4 should keep you occupied for a long time, and with maybe two or so other games with it you should be set till the end of the year when alot of good stuff is released.

RE5 is definitely a game to look forward to.

RE5 is definitely a game to look forward to.

Not if you didn't like RE4 (I didn't personally).

Anywho, titles that spring to mind right now are Resistance, Uncharted, GT: Prologue, Ratchet & Clank, Orange Box, Call of Duty 4, Warhawk, Virtua Fighter 5, and Virtua Tennis 3. And if you like them, Rock Band and GH3, though I don't think either is half as good as GH1 or 2.

Stuff coming out to keep an eye on would be Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, Socom, Star Wars: Force Unleashed, Silent Hill, Fallout 3, and Ghostbusters.

Also, if you want a pretty good downloadable title, try Echochrome.

Games that should be given a try:

Resistance: Fall of Man
Heavenly Sword (Sorta like a God of War game with a female lead)
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune (if you like a mix of Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones movies)
Gran Turismo 5 - This is going to be a damn good racer from what I've experienced with the Prologue
Metal Gear Solid 4 - I know you said it already, but it needs to be said again cause it's going to be that damn good ;)
MLB 08 The Show - If you like baseball, Road To The Show is very addicting.
White Knight Chronicles
Resistance 2
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames
Civilization Revolutions - if you like Turn Based Strategy

I've heard a rumor that Konami might release Suikoden on the PS Store; the rumor was that the ESRB re-rated it for the PS Store and the PSP.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Without a doubt.

Other than Metal Gear Solid 4 I say Tekken 6.

Of course also Final Fantasy XII, but that's much longer down the road.

Its no rumor that it was re-rated by the ESRB. Its true. Hopefully we'll see a Suikoden VI announcement soon.

Right now, it looks like MGS4 will easily be my first game. I definitely want to get Warhawk eventually, but since MGO comes with MGS4, I think my Online-Shooting needs will be fulfilled for a long time, but I might get Warhawk for its Online and Split-Screen capabilities. White Knight Chronicles is definitely going to be an insta-buy for me, it just looks too awesome. LittleBigPlanet is another no-brainer for me.

Well I'm planning on getting a PS3 later this month and it looks like the first two games I'll be buying are MGS 4 and Soul Calibur IV when it comes out. I played a bit of Heavenly Sword, but I didn't really like it. It felt like my button mashing had nothing to do what was actually going on onscreen. :P

I got the same impression when I played it at Gamestop, tbh

Yeah, that, and the incredibly low frame rate on my $500 system offended my senses.

First, Kentarou, I have to say:

:happybday My PS3 makes me so happy! :D Congratulations on getting one!

I only have one game for my PS3, MotorStorm (it was the 80GB bundle). I really only use my PS3 for music, internet, movies, and my old PS1 and PS2 games. I myself am wondering which games to get

So far I want:

FFXIII and Versus XIII (duh)
Little Big Planet
Heavenly Sword
Soul Calibur IV
Tekken 6
DMC 4
Sonic Unleashed
Gran Turismo 5

Oh, and get a DualShock 3 Controller :p

Again, :happybday

Wise words.

If you can find it, you should just get the MGS4 bundle that comes out in 2 days. Yeah it's more expensive than just getting the 40, but it comes with MGS4 and a DualShock 3. Even if you bought the $400 40GB system, by time you've purchased MGS4 and a DualShock 3 (which does not come with the 40), you've already spent $515. The MGS4 80GB kit is $500 on its own.

No game recommendations from me, though I'm probably most looking forward to LBP and Valkyria Chronicles.

What's good about the Dualshock 3? o_o

It does everything the SIXAXIS does and adds rumble. The SIXAXIS does not have rumble. That's the fact part.

As for my personal opinion, it just feels better too. The SIXAXIS was way light and always felt cheap. You can actually see through it if you hold it up to the light. The DS3 with the rumble motors in it is naturally heavier, but the plastic itself is made of sturdier stuff. You can't see through it.

Sony has actually discontinued the SIXAXIS (meaning they don't make it anymore, so once current supplies are gone they will not be replaced) so the DualShock 3 is the official Playstation 3 controller. I really don't understand why they haven't stuck it in their 40GB kits yet.

Darn. I liked the light controller. >_> Oh well.
