View Full Version : I'm getting old :(

Well, not really.. but, I am turning 20 later this month and it just seems so surreal. I mean, then there'll only be 10 years until I turn 30! :(

Somehow I don't like the idea of turning 20, and thus leaving the teenage years behind. I guess I'm officially becoming an adult, and it's friggin' freaking me out!

Topic: Have you ever freaked out because of your age?

I feel weird because I'm turning 18 on a few days! But not as weird as PG feels about me being super legal soon!

Come back when your 27, then we'll talk.

And, no. I've never freaked out. Just got a little worried about stuff.

I was actually like "OMG I'M OLD" last night.

I was thinking about having my baby, and like for some reason my thinking of my future like.. stopped when my future kid was a toddler.

And then I was thinking "Omg, in ten years I'm going to be like my sister with a ten year old!" then it was "OMG IN TEN YEARS I'M GOING TO BE LIKE 31"

then it was like "OMG I'M GOING TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH A TEENAGER IN 15 YEARS!"

I dunno, I feel older than I actually am. Not in the whole like, I feel worn and what not, I just don't feel like I'm 22.

I'm 25 in a week's time; that's scary enough.

19 isn't really a teenage year anyways. I might feel different come december though.

I went to a high school graduation party yesterday. I'm only a year out but being around all the HS kids made me feel like a grandpa.
(I can't imagine how my grandpa felt)

Yeah I turn 18 next month and I was just feeling old too. I don't want to be an adult just yet. ;_; Why do i have to have a job D: someone support me, now taking applications for a sugar daddy.

For the first time in my life, there are a significant number of popular culture figures who are YOUNGER than me and that kind of freaks me out. Most celebrities and sports figures and whatnot have always always been older than me, or at least the same age. But nowadays there are so many really popular figures who are significantly younger than me. Not just a singer here and a football player there, but they're all over the place! Makes me feel really weird.

I console myself with the fact that I neither feel old or look old. And that's something, I guess.

Freaked out, no, but turning 20 definitely felt surreal.

I remember panicking about turning 20, but when it happened it wasn't so bad.

When I turned 20 I wished I was turning 21. Then after 21 I didn't really care how old I was. I'm turning 30 next month and I don't care much either way. It's just a number and I'm happy with my life so I'm not fussed about it.

Yeah, you're still running marathons and scuba diving, you old codger, tell me where to find this fountain of eternal youth :p

What Miriel said rings true. There are a lot of famous people younger than I am. This makes me feel both old and unaccomplished. However, I am better than any of them, so it's okay :jess:

It is, once you get over it. Once upon a time I seriously hated the idea of growing old. The idea of being 25, at the time, was disgusting.

I'm now almost 29 years old. The idea of being 25, at this time, is disgusting.

You should all be put into old folks' homes.

I'm nice and young at seventeen.

you can't be a teenager and an adult at the same time, and once you turn 18, you're an adult in everyone else's eyes (the government, your parents trying to kick you out, etc) except maybe your own.

That is, teen as in teenager the archetype and not teenager as in 'has x-teen years'.

@_@ Ahh.. I know what you mean... I'm moving out soon and that's a big shock to me.. xD haha.. I don't like all the responsibility. But I'm sure it'd be fun since I won't hear my parents nagging.

Just like this, except I stopped caring at 17. :p

Well, until january when I wanted to turn 21, but thats because I found I had a taste for Whiskey. :p

It wasn't so much about the age as being able to buy my own alchohol now. ^_^

And yet i have not used that right yet.

My God, Breine, you're such a baby.

I get more "ooooh....wow" about how young I am. I'm 17. I'll only be 34 when my age has doubled. Then doubled again and I'll still only be 68. Probably still have 20 or 30 years left in me even after that. People should have more time to mature and be childish. Like, until they're 30 or something. That'd be nice.

I turn 19 this year. I don't feel old, really. I'll look forward to my birthdays until my 21st and then after that I'll start to worry about getting old. :jess:

One of my friends worries a lot. She turns 20 this year and she looks at it as "Oh my god, I'll be halfway to 40!"

It doesn't seem to be that huge of an event anymore, the birthday... Just a reminder that life is so fleeting, yet so much remains to live.
