Thinking about getting Swap Magic to be able to play a few PAL, and KH2FM+. Anyone here use it so I can know that it'll work?

Yeah, I use it. Haven't tried any import games, though. You should probably look up some tutorials to make sure they'll run properly.

I have a few questions related to this as well.

I'm strongly considering importing some games from Japan, but my NTSC PS2 obviously is incompatible. Which would be the better choice-- Swap Magic or just buying a Japanese PS2?

Swap magic is easy enough, easy to set up too. It'll play every region PS2 game, and if you want to burn them (backup or download) then you can do that too (have to burn it a certain way though).

I just keep swap magic in all the time, it loads up and I swap it out for an imported PS2 title and it runs fine. Plus, heaps cheaper than a modchip or another region's PS2.

But is there any harm in using it? How much does it generally cost?

Sorry, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to stuff like this.

You can probably mess up you disc tray eventually. But it's not like a new PS2 would be very expensive. Buying it will probably run you about $30. Just find it on Google somewhere.

Yeah, buying another US PS2 would be much less expensive than buying another Japanese one if the one I were to import were to break.

I totally messed up my tray with the Swap Magic. It took about 2 years, but I played a hell of a lot of games that required me to use it. Replaced it last year with a 'region free' PS2 that costed $200, but I don't need a swap magic anymore.

Generally recommended though, and since you're buying one anyway I wouldn't be too worried about messing your thing up.

If you have a slim line PS2 then you won't break your disk tray at all. You replace it with a flip lid instead.

I'm trying to test my Swap Magic disc, but I put it in my PS2, and it said, cannot read disk. I bought the verision that says "USA Version 3.6" because I live in America, I figured thats what I should be buying. Please don't tell me I bought the wrong type :(

Your new swap magic thread was nearly identical to the old one so I merged it to the bottom of your existing swap magic thread. If you need me to change the title to reflect a new problem, please let me know.

Actually, I'm thinking it may be a problem with my PS2. My PS2's always had trouble running types of discs that aren't specifically PS2 discs. I'm going to see if it works on PuPu's PS2...

but I'd like to hear from someone if I bought the right type still.

Something's wonky with your console.

:weep: Oh well at least that means if PuPu's willing to trade with me I can use it :P

Alright two last questions. I have a PS2 that can work the Swap Magic. Now SM gives me three options, NTSC, PAL, and Normal. If I have a J-NTSC game (Final Mix, FFXInternational), would NTSC work? And how exactly does the Slide Tool function? Could someone give me like a step by step procedure?
