Problems with Chocobo Forests...

I just don't get it. I know there are 'hidden' items to find after you catch a chocobo, but I can't for the life of me figure out HOW to get them! I hit the 'activate' button where I KNOW the item is supposed to be, but the bloody Big-Bird rip-off just stays right where it is instead of digging it up. Any hints?

The only thing they've got going for them so far, is that I've just gotten Balamb Garden mobile, and I have access to this game's version of "Power Point" with nothing but Cactuar spawns.:greenie:

The rewards for the chocobo quests aren't even necessary or worth it IMHO. I've skipped it in my previous 4 files and had basically flawless games (all GFs, Omega Weapon defeated, every sidequest done, etc.) My advice is to skip it, it's frustrating, stupid, and unnecessary.
