He is actually a girl, and they made him a girl so she would be even more awesome then he would be if he were a guy, which she isn't.

Quina has no gender. Things with no gender can't be homosexual.
That is all.

Homosexual: of, relating to, or characterized by a tendency to direct sexual desire toward another of the same sex
Asexual: devoid of sexuality
If you can read you can see the discrepensy there.

Quina is not queer. S/he loved nothing but food and eating. I guess s/he never had real friends before, and (seeing that Quina is not that good in the IQ department) thought that the marriage was nothing more than a game.

Silly DD, Quina doesn't have a soul.

Quina is the definition of sex.
Try looking it up in the dictionary next time. Most people usually miss it - but its there. Watching you.

That is all.Yes. Nothing more needs to be said, really.
As for a Qu potentially being romantically involved with a gendered character... nothing wrong with that. Their lack of an inherent sexual preference would, I suppose, mean they could be attracted to males, females, or others just as easily.

I don't know the answer, but I do know one thing: when my kids grow up, they sure as hell ain't playing no FFIX.

Quina's gender is never canonically confirmed in any way, so I regard Quina as "Asexual (female personality)" as it comes across as quite feminine to me.

That's actually quite clever. I'm ashamed to say I completely missed that. Well done.
Christ, that sounded patronising. I actually laughed at that though. xD

Being produced, you could imagine Vivi being genderless as well. Two genderless characters that married.

You have to sort of have a gender and exist to be queer.

Yes, I believe that Quina Quen is queer in the sense that it is strange, but also in the sense that its gender orientation is unclear. LGBTQ people would classify s/he as queer, certainly.

Well, aren't Quan and Quale reffered as men?
I've always thought of Quina as a woman, personally.

Quan refers to Quina as a male when you first recruit him on the way to Burmecia. "S/he need much learning. Please help him".

He can't equip any female only add-ons either.
Rantz

Saying "him" was probably only a convenience issue, as opposed to saying "him/her" which gets tedious. If Quina was either male or female, there would be no point in saying "s/he" all the time.
The female only equipment doesn't really prove anything, as other restrictions than gender may apply. The descriptions never say all females can wear them.

Quina wouldn't wear it if it didn't look good, either.

Aha, but the only other playable females are Garnet, Eiko, Freya and Beatrix, and all four of them can equip every female only add-on

The lack of gender would also mean Quina is free from the gender restrictions of human society.

I always assumed that they say s/he due to the fact that they don't know what gender Quina is, not that it's asexual or a hermaphrodite. I only thought this since other Qu's are given a specific gender, so they don't seem to be an asexual race.
How do you pronounce s/he anyway?
