Armor?

A couple of questions concerning gear:

Where can I find a diamond shield? which enemies drop it?

What's the best armor stat-wise for each type of character? (WM, BM, Ftr, or mix)? I've seen posts that state some armor is horrible for magic users, etc, etc.

I think you find two diamond shields in game. one of them is substantially better than the other.

You should actually consider going without armor for everyone and letting their natural stat growth make up the difference. Then, when you go to boss battles, you can equip some armor and it'll be that much easier.
