Right now Cat Power is literally the soundtrack to my life, and she's been so for a couple of months now. I dig her! - plus, I got to see her live at the Roskilde Festival last Sunday. I stood all the way up front and centre, just a couple of meters away from the stage.. I could've died right there, also.. she winked at me ;)

At the minute I'm listening to quite a lot of Jamiroquai and Amy Winehouse, and Pilooski remixes. I dunno why.

IcyLucifer's Music Profile (http://www.last.fm/user/IcyLucifer)

But the ordering isn't the best, as that really only tells you what artists I've listened to the most at my computer in the last year.

A better summation would be (rough order)

Opeth (prog/death metal)
Tool (prog/alt metal)
Pain of Salvation (prog metal)
Dream Theater (prog metal)
Jethro Tull (prog/folk rock)
Joanna Newsom (singer-songwriter folk)
Miles Davis (jazz, jazz fusion)
Radiohead (alt rock, electronic rock)
John Coltrane (jazz, free jazz)
Ayreon (prog/folk metal)
The Dear Hunter (prog/indie rock)
Godspeed You! Black Emperor (post-rock)

Obviously similar to my post in the "favorite albums" thread... each of these artists had an album in my top 15.

This also kinda makes my favorite genre leanings quite clear :p I love me some prog, jazz, and folk.

My current favorite musical artists are Radiohead and Pain of Salvation. There is no first and second with them, they are both exceptional bands. After those two, I enjoy listening to Kamelot, Agalloch, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Symphony X, Amorphis, Porcupine Tree, Silverchair, Rush, and Dream Theater. There is no order to that list either.

If you had a Last.fm profile, we'd probably have very high compatibility, as Radiohead is my #1 most-played artist and Pain of Salvation is my #3.

We should chat it up, you seem to like a lot of similar stuff and I could probably give you recommendations :D Or if you like, stop by the music forum I call home (as does another EoFF user, Ryth), Five Eight Forums (http://www.fiveeightforums.com)

Chthonic, Sikth, Protest the Hero, Emperor, Gorgoroth, Guns n' Roses, Alice in Chains, Necrophagist, Spawn of Possesion, Pig Destroyer, that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Oh man, technical music. I know a few people who could fulfill your every desire in technical (or other kinds of) death metal and hardcore. I hate to feel like I'm advertising, but really, you could find a ton of great recommendations in this vein at the music board of Five Eight Forums (http://www.fiveeightforums.com)
Seriously. Sikth, Protest the Hero, Emperor, Necrophagist, and Spawn of Possession all have a lot of big fans there, and no name on your current list of favorites goes un-represented either. *thumbs up*

I've been liking some Elliot Smith and Tool lately.

Kind of a strange mixture but it's been enjoyable.

I made a playlist of Madvillain, King Geedorah, Talib Kweli & Madlib, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, The Cool Kids, and Clipse on my iPod that I cannot stop playing whenever I'm driving anywhere.

I won't go into my all-time favorites since a click on my last.fm would save me the trouble of typing that up.

Not strange at all :D Everybody needs a little variety to keep things more fresh and interesting and satisfy different moods.

And of course you've picked two of the best in their respective genres (singer/songwriter and progressive metal).
