Ok, I've held this off (http://forums.eyesonff.com/general-gaming-discussion/117427-ryu-strret-fighter-vs-cloud-strife-mugen.html#post2495155) long enough.

Skipping the details since I went through it in the above-linked post.
Normally, a crossover game of this kind would be difficult to bring to the US. Tatsunoko's various anime properties, those that 'exist' in the U.S. anyway, are licensed by different companies. This would make whatever royalty negotiations quite difficult. However, Capcom had stated some time back that they were 'investigating' the possibilities of bring it to US arcades, and it appears they are making progress.
At EVO 2008 (http://evo2k.com/), Tatsunoko vs Capcom will be having an 'official location test' along side its cousin Street Fighter IV (http://forums.eyesonff.com/general-gaming-discussion/118483-street-fighter-iv.html).
I'm excited. I won't ever be at EVO, but this bodes well for the game becoming available... which means that its eventual console port could be released outside of Japan as well.
