Which would you prefer? Remakes on PS3 of, lets say, 7,8 and 9, or simply continuing the series with brand new content?

I'd like new games that dont continue the series. ie chrono series or seiken densetsu

But in terms of final fantasy I'd like new titles that were a little less inovative.

Definitely new games, as long as they're made with love. Of course, a remake would also require a lot of love, but in any case I can't see why they should reproduce what's already there.

The only Final Fantasy I'd say even warrants a remake today is Final Fantasy VII, since its blocky graphics is usually a bit of a turn-off for new players today. VIII and IX has decent graphics even by today's standards.

I'd like to see some new games instead of more damn remakes.

Oh and no set classes.

New games. As much as I appreciate the fact that rereleasing games allows younger gamers or non-Japanese people to appreciate some of the games that they didn't have the ability to play (CT, for instance, for Europeans such as myself), I'd still like to see some new titles being released. After all, if we want to play such games, there's mostly little reason why we can't simply play the originals.

I want a mega FFVII, thats set after DOC which sees the old team (cid, tifa, cloud, barret, RedXIII, Reeve,) and the secret characters (Vincent and Yuffie) having to all get back together for an epic and entertaining adventure to wrap up all the loose ends that have been presented, you know what i mean.

The other new characters can be involved but i don't want them as main or playables, i only want the originals as there are enough of them and anymore might be overkill.
the only problem would be that they could never ever repricate the shock that the original gives the first time you play it.

oh and a Remade sexy looking improved version of FFVI, with a green haired TERRA not blonde!!!!!

I made a mistake while putting up this thread, although it might not be a big change since some of you may have caught my intentions already.

By remake, I meant enhanced graphics to fit the PS3, so, yes they would be the old game, but much, much better quality.

I'm mostly for new games and content though I must say I don't mind remakes as long as they are within reason. But between the two I prefer new content over replaying old. New graphics for VII and VIII would still not change the problems I originally had with the games ;)

Course, I feel its obvious that the whole series will be remade eventually. Though if I were in charge, I would remake VIII and IX before VII just to spite the fanboys and transform the release of the game into a massive marketing ploy that will generate more money than the game is really worth. :D

New games, so long as they don't fuck them up.

its just that IX and VIII seemed finished, like when i completed them i was happy with the ends and i saw them as complete and done. I love them both but they just don't have the wallop VII does,

New games for now, but there will come a time when i'll be screaming out for remakes with the growing technology.

Id like to see a smoothed up graphiced version of all the FF. With White Engine, they could be impressive!

Why not both at once?

I don't think FF7 or later need newer versions. An FF7 remake for PS3 (which is possible) does not interest me in buying a PS3. A full FF6 remake in glorious 3D for the PS3, does however. I have no desire to buy a PS3... but even that would make me think twice.

On another note... The World Ends With You was very unique, and one of the best games I've played in a long time. So I want new titles, and some that have nothing to do with Final Fantasy... I know... blasphemy!

Yes would like to see new games as well, but I wouldn't seeing a couple of more remakes. VII for the PS3 seems plausible eventhough that is my least favorite and i think they need to remake the original again also for PS3 when it's there 30th anniversary in 2018.

A nice, 3D, remake of V or VI would be great. Only one question: PSP or DS?

DS.

PSP, no doubt, it's far superior to the DS, even though i still plan to get a DS for the Chrono Trigger remake which i believe with it's sprite graphics lends itself perfectly to the DS, but anything full 3D should go to the superior system for handling those kinds of graphics which is without a doubt the PSP...

PSP was my initial preferance as well, but there's the issue of piracy if it was made for PSP. Otherwise, a PSP remake of VI would be epic

I'm all for new ones. This could expand the Final Fantasy idea.

There is room in my Snorlax-sized heart for both. I would enjoy either! But if I was trapped in a barbed wire maze and forced to choose, I would say new games.

I'd prefer remakes of FFVII, VIII and IX.
But that means they stay the way they are, just an improvement of graphics and music quality, nothing else.

The reason I dont really want more games, is because I think FF have seen its best days a long time ago, and now its going downhill.

I want a fucking world map to travel on, secret islands, a proper ATB system with random encounters, GOOD MUSIC and a decent story..FF12 Crushed my dreams of ever seeing a FF I like ever again, and I dont think its gonna be any better.

Lol, you and I are complete opposites. :p XII gave me hope the company could produce good games again.

Hehe we seem to agree on quite a few things...to me XII was a return to form for the series. While I enjoyed them, VIII, IX and X didn't really hook me as much as previous intalments. XII did.

I would like them to do a couple of remakes (VI and VII) and then just focus on new games.

Random encounters are smurfing annoying.

Lets hope crizpy never gains a place in SE or else he'll halt all new direction and just take it a step backwards.

I went for remakes cos like most people out there, whether they're saying it out loud or not, I would really like to see a remake of FF7. I think it is definately in the pipeline, what with all the sequels and prequels and requels that have cropped up. Players are going to want to experience the original as they are experiencing the spin-offs. Hopefully if there is a remake it will be as close to the original as possible. I'm so glad FF4 and other older games are being remade for the DS cos it allows you to re-experience the magic without being pointed and laughed at :D
And about FF8's graphics being able to pass today....well...I was playing 8 the other day and my flatmates were teasing me cos Squall's face goes all lopsided when the screen changes. So yeah...remakes for me. After playing the abysmal XII I'm over new titles.
