As Selphie would say: "BOOYAKA!" It was such a simple thing too! Only problem is...I can't use Anti-aliasing...and even though this game is approaching 10-years old, you may need a firm CPU clock...I have 3.2GHz of AMD dual-core power (AM2 socket, 6400+), but I did notice a VERY slight slow-down in the framerate at one particular part, or it may have just been my imagination...The FMV's are much better quality on the PC-version, and after listening to the audio, I realized just how much is lost with the emulator while playing the PSX version. Also, I ripped 3 of the 4 discs to my computer, and there is NO hesitation in FMV playback from the CD-drive accessing the data. Smooth as 1000-grain sandpaper! (The colour depth, 16-bit, is still lacking but at least it runs smooth :p ) I tried ripping an ISO of the 4th disc, but alas, 9 years of sliding the disc in-and-out of the CD-case has made a part of the disc unreadable, so I'm downloading the 4th disc from bittorrent...hopefully the download will be done by the time I get to the end of the 3rd disc...:)

Anyways, if anti-aliasing doesn't mean much to you, then all you need to do to get rid of the visible texture tiles is go into the FF8Config, and change the 'Renderer' drop-down box to Software Renderer. At least the picture is 640x480 though, and the audio isn't glitchy. :)

HUZZAHH!!!

here's a comparison of snapshots of the intro-to-Quistis FMV at the beginning...although, I'd think a comparison of snaps from the opening FMV of Edea's hair flying behind her would've been better, but oh well...(the dark one is just because of the Nvidia issues before I found the cure, the brightness is actually on-par with the emulator one...)
