"Time to Pretend" is a great song. I've thought about buying their album, since they kinda remind me of a more electronic version of The Flaming Lips or something, and I love me some Flaming Lips.

Vampire Weekend (self-titled) and Consolers of the Lonely by The Raconteurs are both fucking amazing.

1. Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend
2. The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely
3. Panic at the Disco - Pretty.Odd.
4. Electric President - Sleep Well
5. Counting Crows - Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings
6. Jason Mraz - We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things
7. The Grand Archives - Grand Archives
8. Goldfinger - Hello Destiny

I doubt anyone's heard of Electric President or The Grand Archives, but they're both excellent indie bands that deserve checking out.

Vampire weekend wonderful band. Picture Atlantic is a band from San Jose/Oakland, Ca area. Wonderful band was one of the openers for Coldplay's Viva La Vida concert in San Jose (which I went to). and Coldplay what can I say.

Hm, I liked the new City And Colour, and then Russian Circles' Station was great. I guess those would be my favourites, though I haven't really been on the ball with new music this year.

I'm gonna start sounding like a broken record, but my most frequented forum Five Eight Forums (http://www.fiveeightforums.com) is home to some of the absolute biggest fans of Opeth, To-Mera, Esoteric, and Virgin Black you will ever meet. Therion and Draconian are not unrepresented themselves. You really would find a home in the music discussion board, either talking about bands like these or getting recommendations for stuff in a similar vein.

_____

So far this year I haven't payed attention to a lot of new releases. I've gotten the latest by a few core favorite bands but I've spent most of the year catching up on old (not necessarily ancient, but a mix of stuff spanning hundreds of years ago to just a few years ago) music that I really wanted to hear and it all seemed a lot more pressing & highly recommended than just the newest stuff on the block. That's kind of how my priorities have been lately. I don't usually get into all the newest albums from a given year until at least the following year, after hype has died-down and settled and I can get a more accurate opinion of where exactly this new music falls relative to all the other music out there, and specifically in that particular artist's catalogue.

1. Watershed by Opeth
2. The White by Agalloch
3. Tulimyrsky by Moonsorrow
4. Board Up The House by Genghis Tron

Literally the only four albums this year to impress me.
