All I'm hoping for is a new Star Fox game along the lives of the original or 64 in terms of gameplay and a new Pikmin game.

At this point Nintendo only know how to appeal to the casual crowd. They may as well have announced a new entry in one of their key franchises because having Star Wars and a Rayman game as your big games for this holiday is a joke. The DS does have Spore I suppose.

They should have showed Madworld, which is still the only worthwhile Wii title at the moment. If Nintendo continue to shaft games like Madworld it'll suffer the same fate as No More Heroes as a great game for the hardcore crowd that nobody buys.

As for the GTA game, will be it be 3D or 2D? Just wondering....

XxSephirothxX
07-15-2008, 06:26 PM
They can still make great games that appeal to the core crowd. Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, and SSBB all prove that. The problem is that they can make so much goddamn money on stuff like WiiFit and WiiMusic it's obviously become their focus. And that blows.

JKTrix
07-15-2008, 06:29 PM
G4 is interviewing Reggie. They asked him about 'where are the hardcore games' and he basically came back with 'the Animal crossing that everybody wanted'.

It's probably a lot faster/easier for them to make those kinds of games than it is to make a 'new' game that us core gamers want. I doubt they're pulling important people off their mario/zelda etc games to work on Wii Music. I guess it takes time. I do agree that they could have shown *something*.

They also didn't show any Japanese 3rd party games, like MadWorld, instead focusing on the american developers. It is an american show after all.

Animal Crossing is as casual as casual games can get.

You can't play it for a few minutes a day and expect to get anywhere with it, so it's not a casual game. Just because it appeals to a casual crowd too, that doesn't make it a casual game.

Well Ive only dabbled in the DS version for a little bit and cant say much but Animal Crossing just seems like a social playground where you fish and talk. Never saw what appealed to the core gamers.

Anyway I'm done with Nintendo, they just seem to be promoting 3rd party shovelware that people actually wanted rid of, not more of. I hope Sony can deliver.

I'm definitely liking the WiiMotion+, and will probably buy WiiSports Resort just to try it out. I'll probably buy Animal Crossing, as well.

Hopefully, there will be more as E3 goes on, but I at least like some of what I saw today. There was more Wii stuff in other developer conferences as well, and The Conduit has been confirmed to at least be present at E3 this year with a playable demo. I hope someone finds it. >_>

Edit: Also, keep in mind that one of the bigger Nintendo titles, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, was not announced on the first day. It was announced on the second day. So maybe we'll see some big titles in the E3 days to come.

True, it is still a little early...

I'm kind of hoping there's backlash across the board, though; enough to make Nintendo wake up and realize what their core audience really wants. Something on the scale of Sony's '06 presentation. Too bad nothing meme-worthy has come out of it :(

I just wish they'd come out and say, hey, we're allowing for expandable storage through the USB ports using any hard drive you want (a la PS3)! And new channels for some of our games to make online better (SSBB plz)! And open support for bluetooth headsets! Centralized friends lists not based around FCs where you can actually add whatever random person you're playing with!

Any one of those would've been great, but instead it's just... hey Shaun White Snowboarding, awesome, just what everyone was waiting for.

KentaRawr!

Their first day was pretty lackluster. The biggest announcements, to me, were the peripherals, even though I will buy the games along with them, naturally. The WiiSpeak and the Motion+ are both things that I think are good choices for Nintendo.

I hope that Reggie was just joking with the hard-core comment with Animal Crossing. Me wants Zelda! D:<

What!? No exciting Final Fantasy XIII on Wii news?

Nintendo seems stale to me anymore, their consoles at least. I love my DS. Animal Crossing is nice to look forward to, it is like the only game Nintendo makes anymore that I like.

I've been pretty much done with Zelda since that whole Wind Waker clustersmurf. Twilight Princess was the nail in the coffin for my interest in new entries to the Zelda series.

C'mon, tell us it's open for any USB drives... c'mon Nintendo...

Ugh, I'm just worried it's going to be something like "Introducing... the WiiCart+" and it'll be like an N64 cartridge with USB, completely incompatible with anything reasonable on the market.

Still, saying that they're working on both voice chat and storage makes me a bit more hopeful that they don't want to be retarded about their online system anymore.

I'll agree it was pretty lackluster. I can't believe Nintendo has made a system that changes the way you play games and so far, Zelda and Mario Galaxy are the only games that show off what it can do. I blame the ESA for restructuring E3 and making it totally lame.

It's a good thing Shiggy didn't try to paint the E3 presentation a color that it's not, but I think people judge Nintendo's E3 too harshly. I look forward to what they announced for the Wii, though I am skeptical of Wii Music, and Shawn White's Snowboarding doesn't interest me. When it comes to a Snowboarding Game, I think SSX Blur may be a better choice. It might not try to emulate the slope, but it does use the controller in a unique, and effective, style. I think that in the future, other game companies should think about that. When one does a motion, does it really have to look how it is on-screen? Does it have to emulate something else? I think not! Improving the current control scheme is better than making a simplistic emulation of what that game is based off of.

I kinda went off-topic, there.
