Fantasy Football

It's that time again: NFL and fantasy football season. I have started the league for this year on Yahoo and people can start joining. Post here if you're interested. Please note that we're interested in people who will pay attention throughout the season.

Right now there's only one league with a max of 14 teams. If there's enough interest I can create another league. Long-time returning members will have priority for the first league, but there will be more than likely be openings.

There's 8 teams signed up now for 14 slots. There will probably be a couple late-coming oldbies, but I don't think there's many consistent players left, so there will be at least a couple of open slots in this league. If you know football and are willing to stick around for the full season and at least try to compete, post as such in this thread. Head-to-head fantasy football is a bit more luck-based than other fantasy sports, so anyone can win (as shown by Del, a long time player, going 4-10 for last place last year... well, maybe he just sucks :p).

I'd be interested in taking part, since none of my friends care enough about the NFL to join a league with me. I've only been following the sport for a couple of years, so my team will probably get embarrassed every week, but hey, every league needs one of those. I think I know enough to hold my own, but it's cool if you want someone more experienced to make things more competitive. Just thought I'd declare my interest, anyway. :up:

As long as you try with at least minimal effort (which means logging in at least once per week and not trading your whole team away for nothing), I for one would be fine with you. If you can manage that, I'll send you the league info for you to sign up. We have 9 teams now (would be 10 with you), and I think we've about run out of the regular players. A few newbies are fine, and helps to keep the league filled and fresh.

I definitely suck more at football than baseball. Football is a lot more about luck, too.

Ok, so you need to pick a Kicker and a Defense within the first, say, 5 or 6 rounds. I hear Nate Kaeding and Chicago defense are pretty good. Right, ed? (also you need two kickers overall)

Well the first league is now full.

ANYONE ELSE WHO STILL WANTS TO PLAY: still post so here. If there are some people left, I'll create a second league and start sending out the sign up info. And then to fill out the league, members from the first league will be invited to join in this second one, so we'll still have some experienced managers.

Bert: you'll be the first to get the second league's info once it's up.

I can never keep up with baseball plus I only follow the teams in the Reds' division. Football is a different story.

I'm not expecting 13 or even 9 new members to want to join up to fill a league. 4-5 wouldn't surprise me, though, and to fill the extra 6-8 spots, managers from the first league will join. It'd basically be the same league, just with a different set of newbies to fill it out.

But hey, nobody's forcing you. Less work for me then, and I'll likely join RSL's Family Fun League (if he makes it again) as a second league to defend my title.

I didn't realize my integrity would be called into question by people I've played with for going on four years now, given that you were all fine with me being commissioner in the first place. Nor did I realize she would actually draw my name first, given my track record of picks.

I dunno if there will be another league, though. Red Sexy's still trying to fill out his league (which, aside from a couple of RSL's family, is basically another EoFF league), so that may be the "second league" at this point. I can always create one, though, if there's a demand for it.

EDIT: actually, I'm reluctant to start another league while RSL still needs people. I'd hate for a second EoFF league to get all of the people from EoFF into a second league and then nobody else wanting to join RSL's league.

So yeah, EoFF League 2 is on hold for right now. I created it, but not going to give out info yet.

Is there anyone else who is left out that still wants to play in a league? I closed mine because it had an even 10 players, but 12 wouldn't be bad either. I just don't want to end up with an odd number because bye weeks suck.
