Monsters let loose from training center

whenever squall and crew come back from desert prison and they find balamb garden in chaos...someone tells squall that the monsters from the training center have been let loose...but you fight much more than grats and t-rexaurs...anyone know anything bout this?

It's just another thing that the story writers didn't take into consideration when they added it into the story, yes monsters ravaging the Garden is pretty "OH NO! WE MUST SAVE THE DAY!" worthy, but it really loses merit when the monsters aren't the right one's in the first place.

Well maybe saying "some monsters escaped the training center" gives a hint that you will be fighting monsters including but not exclusive to grats and t-rexuars

Well it doesnt matter what he said, if he says monsters were let loose from the training centre it doenst neccesarily mean theyre the only monsters about, its possible some external monsters got in.

Ask Future Esthar or Serapy, they'll give you a plausible answer.

It makes sense to me that the Glacial Eyes, Bite Bugs and Caterchipillars got inside from the world map, but I was always a bit confused about how the monsters residing in the Fire Cavern could be bothered to journey all that way for the occasion.

And don't Grendels usually live in Galbadia?

I always imagined that they were just generally rounded up by the Guardian masters. After all, Garden does seem to control the Fire Cavern so it didn't seem implausible to me that they might've rounded up some monsters to do their dealings for them. As for the Grendel, I just assumed it might've been kept somewhere in Garden for specialist training or something. After all, the Training Centre would be pretty rubbish if it only contained Grats and T-Rexaurs.

The Grendels came from the island closest to hell. There NORG was leveling up and captured a few of them. When the Grendels came with NORG back to the garden the monsters from all around joined in to fight on the day squall and friends came back from the desert prison.

NORG is what almost ruined the story for you? That's it?

Sorry, couldn't resist. Ignoring criticisms of FFVIII's plot, I never really paid so much attention to the fact that non-training center monsters were present to really care. It didn't exactly seem like an issue to me. I think there are far better things to consider when asking, "What the hell were the writers thinking?!"
