The young Riddle is nothing like you expected him to be. Fuck, there's no point in me watching it now that I know that.

I'M GONNA NEED A NEW PAIR OF PANTIES.

Riddle is EXACTLY as I pictured him.

I hope this lives up to the book, as this one is my very favorite, and I am highly critical. I hate the movie Dumbledore, and this book is all about Dumbledore, so that may potentially ruin it. :flounder:

How so? That scene was exactly how I imagined it, down to the layout of the room.

I'm excited. I'll be in Britain for the premiere of this one. Hopefully my lack of friend-making skills will not rear its head and I'll find someone to see it with.

Hopefully about as kid friendly as the sixth book.

The movies have disappointed me. They've always disappointed me, but it was the fifth that disappointed me the most. Perhaps it will be better now that the last book has been released (then again, they likely wrote the script for the sixth movie before that).

The fifth movie proved that the people writing the movies aren't paying an awful lot of attention. I'm not so picky that movies have to be perfect counterparts to the novels, but they really dropped the ball with The Order of the Phoenix.

I, of course, refer to the inability to pick up on important plot points. If a majority of the Harry Potter fan base can realize that the locket in 12 Grimmauld Place was the missing horcrux, Hollywood writers should be able to do the same. Hell, they didn't even need to figure it out on their own! It was all over the internet almost as soon as people had finished reading the sixth novel! The movies have proven that they tend to skip over certain important things (like writing Dobby's role out of the fourth movie and almost cutting Kreacher out of the fifth), and I expect more of the same. Such decisions will impact the series negatively down the road. If moviegoers who haven't read the books see the Dobby die in the seventh movie, they're not going to care, and that's a damn shame.

That said, I will see this movie anyway. The trailer looks freaking ace, but most trailers do.

Very disapointing. Not very satifiying for a teaser trailer. Anywho, hopefully this movie won't suck like the last two have. Not only is this my favorite book of the series, but what I believe is the most important one as well. Don't f*** this one up Yates!!!

By and large I've felt the films have gotten better as they've gone on and quite enjoyed the fifth one. I'm not terribly looking forward to this one, but I will go and see it.

Personally I felt that HBP was written with too much fanservice and while it wasn't my least favourite, it certainly wasn't my favourite (which was GoF).

Anyway I've been pretty disappointed with how the movies have been going as a group and individually (OotP especially) I really need to look at who's directing this one and so on.

Trailer looks good though.

Eh, I don't like the movies as they stand alone. I feel more like they're a compliment to the books. I'm sure this one will be the same.

the problem with the films are that they just plays of the books! thats why most people don't like them as much, if the adore the books!
unfortunately im one of them! i love all the books and the films disappoint me! This is not just because of plot points that they tend to miss out but because the films don't have the type of essence the books have!
The big problem with OOTP(m) was that even though the film was dark...it just wasn't dark enough! There was extremely important plot points that they missed out! even though we all know it must be really difficult to have made a 956 page book into a 1hr and 30 min film and even though they left the most important things in, i just feel like the essence of it was lost in translation!
Hopefully they might be able to cram all of the unsaid things they have left out of movies 1-5 in the 6th! from what i have seen and read HBP hasn't skirted over barely anything in this film! they have appeared to have left in ron and the chocolates, lavender has a part in this one too! even Marcus belby(although only a small part, which i think is good as the actor who played him tragically died in a stabbing in London a few months back)
Dobby and kreature have to be in this one even though i think that the could be easily left out! if they are ill never bad mouth the movies again!

I'm re-reading the books at the moment. I forget how much good stuff they left out. Ouch! is right, they left out some stuff which becomes important later on.

However, the trailer has got me more excited to see this, and how they do the whole Penseive thing. Also, I can't wait to see Dumbledore's death scene!

It will have been hard to guess what was important when all the books weren't out. Now that they are, the films will be more faithful.

I always thought all the films were great. They're never going to be as in depth as the books, so I never expect them to be.

the old manus is of course right! remember yates said him self that the films are dedications to jo rowlings world!
with that in mind...im actually not to disappointed in the films!

The thing about the films is that if you've read the book, you'll try and compare the two. All I could think about after OotP was everything they left out ;_;

I've bought every HP DVD so far. Because they're good? No, they suck. It just feels weird if I don't have them haha. I read the first three books before most people had even heard of the first one. HP is my baby.

I agree after being dissapointed four times in a row, I don't think I'll be going to see this one unless, I hear from other hp fans that it's loyal to the story, which I doubt. The trailer did look good, I first saw it on the news, but that doesn't really mean anything to me as I've thought the last one looked good to and look what the result was.

I think the films have been getting better and better but that's not really saying much. The first two films were cringeworthy. The 3rd one was probably the best one.

Not sure how I feel about David Yates directing this movie AND the films for the last book. I don't think he did that superb of a job with the 5th film that they would want to stick with him for the remaining films. I like how they mixed it up with the directors, and I wish they would have kept doing that.

Trailer was very good for being just a teaser. Young Riddle seems like a better actor than any of the Potter Trio when they were that age.

To all those people knocking the movies...I've said it before and I'll say it another million times; film is a different medium than literature, and as such things will be different.... The basic underlying plot is the same, so watch it as a movie, not a live-action book.

If you simply don't like them as movies aside from that, that's fine, just say so.

I like the books and I like the movies, this one will probably not disappoint me, as none of the previous have.

I agree that some people dislike the HP films because "THEY'RE SO NOT LIKE THE BOOKS", and that those people are idiots. However, I dislike the movies because they're crap, and only have a bit of liking for them because they're a bit like the books. xD
