Have you ever had bad fake tan experiences? Do you regularly use fake tan? Or are you naturally tanned? What are your thoughts on it?

--

I loove fake tan, I rely on it now. I had one major fake tan disaster a year ago, when I tried using the bronzing wipes and I ended up with huge brown lines down my arm, on my face, on my stomach, everywhere, it was so embarrassing. I had PE the next day.

I usually use Johnson's holiday skin, I've become such a fake tan expert now that it doesn't go streaky :jess: I used my Mum's St Tropez fake tan for my prom though, it made me so tanned~

"Every chemical substance I do not use myself is unnecessary and stupid and probably dangerous!"

This is a little something I often repeat in my mind to feel more secure about myself. So yeah, fake tanning is unnecessary and stupid and probably dangerous.

I've been a pasty gamer kid for most of my life.
Imagine my shock when I went to the beach this year and found myself to be deeply tanned after one hour. I was the same color as baba-san, further backing up my belief that my father was in the yakuza.

You weirdos are doing it backwards. It's the ranting nonsense, then 'Jesse! James!'

I tan naturally and it's rather hard for me to burn (I'll have to sit still for hours and forget to put on sunscreen). In the autumn/winter seasons I hope I can afford to pay for suntan booths =)

Only experience I've had with fake tan is when I wrote my name on my stomach with it.

I think it can look good, but a lot of the time people go over the top with it.

Actually, I had some lotion once that had "subtle self-tanning" stuff in it, but I thought 'oh whatever' but THEN I rubbed it on a sore on my leg, and bam, my leg was orange.

I tested a fake tanner on my stomach and it got all streaky and now I'm too afraid to try again :/

No, I have not.
No, I don't.
I'm pale but tan fairly easily.
Whatever floats your boat. Or the money out of your wallet.

Also, in before they denounce the evils of sun or tan, or extend their skins to the stars above. Also, you're doing it wrong, you put the names out of order. L2pkmn, please.

No.
No.
No, I burn extremely fast actually. I don't tan at all.
It's for people who aren't satisfied with the way they look, but who am I to judge? I'm fine with being pale.

Nope. I've never tried it. Naturally tanned. I associate it with dumb blonde girls. :Oo:

Fake tans look fake.

Southern California has too many fake ass orange chicks running around for me to think favorably of fake tans or even real tans.

I agree as well. This is Hawai'i, yet I still see women walking around with obviously fake tans. I don't understand it.

Despite being 3/4 white, the 1/4 of me that is a mix of Native American and Jamaican is what shows, so I get to have a natural tan and not have pasty white skin. Which I'm glad for, sunburns look like they suck.

And yeah, I gotta agree about the thing about fake tans in SoCal (and Hawai'i I guess). I don't understand why they'd need it, it's not like the sun doesn't shine here.

I absolutely hate fake tan!! What is the sudden obsession women seem to have with fake tan.Well white girls anyway! Every chick you go out with these days, when you meet them first they are normal skin tone colour and they are beautiful then when you take them somewhere nice, you meet them and they are smurfing orange!!!

Don't women seem to get if I wanted a tanned skinned woman I'd be dating a Spanish girl or the like. But when I'm dating an Irish, American or British girl she should be the colour she was when I asked her out in the 1st place.

Also in agreement with Miriel.

I never understand it. When you live in Scotland, you should not have a tan. Especially in the middle of freaking Winter.

I think the usage of fake tan by girls to turn them into oompa loompas has raised the bar for tanning so much that it is impossible to be tanned naturally anymore.

not that I care or anything

I don't know why girls like to make themselves orange. If you apply fake tan properly (moisturising before hand, putting very little on extra dry areas such as knees/elbows), and not too much too often it doesn't look orange so I am at a loss as to why I see so many orange girls.

I tan easily, but living in England I don't get enough sun! I'm generally pale, except in the summer months - and if I go abroad to a hot country I come back very tanned! I don't really use fake tan, I've used body lotions with tanning agents in it and they're pretty good.

I'll just lie in the sun for my tans. I've used sunbeds before too, which I like - but they're so expensive! :jess:

I tan naturally. In winter if I'm wearing a skirt for a party or something I use a tiny bit of fake tan on my legs (they never see the light of day, they actually exude paleness) just so that they won't look out of whack with my arms, face and tummy. I don't look orange when I do it because I only use a minimal amount. I never put any on my knees, I've hear too many horror stories XD. Orange is hiraaaarious. I think - like pretty much every other cosmetic item - it's fine if it's used skilllfully.

I don't know. I haven't encountered tanning products... Besides I'm already brown so, its a waste. I am planning on taking in glutathione, which would (supposedly) make your skin lighter...

I do not use any artificial tanning products. I have the option, every summer, to become darker in skin color by spending time in the sun.

I've used fake tan once when I was like 12 years old. My friend put it on me so it didn't streak or anything. I've been to the sunbeds twice in my life, I quite liked them they helped with my dry skin. I never tan though, I'm just so fair and pale. ;;

Yep...

Tried it once and came out looking like a tangerene. Not so good. Nope.

However, I do spend some time in the sun, but my skin's so sensitive that i cook, peel, and get paler...

*sigh*

lol @ orange girls, you're doing it wrong.

I do this instead (http://www.bullseye1.com/catalog/tan/jade1.jpg). Mmhm, so relaxing too. :smash: Except I didn't go tanning this year, I'm all white and glowy.

I always use fake tan, and I have never once been "orange". If you're orange then you're doing it wrong and getting the wrong type of fake tan.

Fake tan is better for your skin, which is something you're all forgetting. Good luck with your aged skin from too much sun exposure~

I like being white.

Jergens came out with Natural Glow. This is the biggest piece of http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif product ever for pale girls. Even the fair one! It seriously makes you orange. I put it on my legs once and had the ugliest nastiest orange yellow brown color. And it was streaky, even though it told me to use it "just like everyday lotion" which is http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif.

Then Olay came out with quench with the hint of sun. I didn't mind that as much. But I don't know what the fuck they make now and I'm not interested. I like being pale.

Yeah, if you don't take care of yourself and use lotions and sit in there for 30 fucking minutes.

I much prefer it the natural way. I don't particularly like fake tans especially if they're too obvious. Ugh, there's nothing worse.

Also, what's wrong with being a little pale? Sometimes I don't understand the fascination about having to be tan all year long.

I was sorta expecting more people to be using fake tan when I read this, but I think it's kinda cool to see people like being pale/normal skin colour :) I'm not super pale but quite pale and I guess I like it cos it's natural and I generally try and be as natural as poss (and cos I'm lazy, yes. xD ) Also I saw someone applying it on tv and it looked really icky, I think covering one's face in makeup is icky enough, but the whole body? just looks a bit messy and washing it off must be a hassle too o_O

However, the tanning machine looks scarier misfit ;_; I'm sure it's generally harmless but it reminds me of that movie, final destination 4 I think, when someone gets stuck in one and burnt to death. xD

I reckon you're right zeldy that if you *do* want to be brown (and although I wouldn't personally like to use it, I do think it looks good on people if they apply it well), it's a pretty safe way to do it :) Darker skin does look nice on people with dark hair.

Dale Winton is living proof that fake tans look all orange and erm... fake. No, just plain ghastly.
Not for me. Fake stuff is for fake people.
