To my knowledge no such game is in development, but if a Guitar Hero game were made using video game tunes, which ones would you expect to see? These would either be tunes that always had prominent guitar parts, or arrangements of earlier, more electronic material, and more to the point well known stuff as the earlier GH games in particular used obvious choices by whichever band they decided to use a song by.

I'll try and name some that are obvious from my point of view...

DOOM: At DOOM's Gate (aka E1M1)
Ooh, the SonicClang version... ^^ (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3UPyjAxXT9M&feature=related)

Black Mages: Those Who Fight Further
YouTube - Black Mages - Those Who Fight Further Guitar Hero 2 Custom (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=95cA8spUfSc)

Guilty Gear X: Holy Orders (I'd rather see Suck A Sage or Momentary Life but anyone that's even remotely in the loop with GG fandom will know Holy Orders would be the obvious choice)
YouTube - Guitar Hero Custom - Guilty Gear XX - Holy Orders ! (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=UdFrVaWBw-4)

Megaman II: Um... that one tune from that game that I think plays during the final boss or something and everyone knows it and thinks it's awesome.
Also not the original... but then it wouldn't be (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=UUYVSPg76BI)

So yeah. I'd like to see an actual GH game with video game tunes in it. I think it would actually sell. Now you tell us what you'd wanna see in that game.

I think it would be a damn good game actually. Hell, looking at OC Remix, the possibilities are endless for a game. I doubt an official game will ever be released but I can imagine a fan made game like Step Mania being created sometime down the road.

Edit: On a side note, I always wanted a Daft Punk inspired Rock Band edition, mostly revolving around the Interstellar 5555 story. It would be sweet.

Well there's Frets On Fire, and as you'll see from the links, people have already figured out how to romhack and mod Guitar Hero; it just requires a modded console.
