View Full Version : A haiku thread? Haiku is that?

Let's see how creative our members are in a random haiku thread. "But Mulley, I don't know how to write a haiku!" you exclaim, extremely distraught. "Not to worry my little Haikulet, writing a haiku is simple. There are three lines to a haiku and there are five syllables on the first line, seven on the second and five on the third. There are more advanced forms and definitions, but we'll keep it simple for today's lesson. Perhaps a haiku about haiku will help ease your angst."

Use five syllables
then with seven syllables
finish with five more

"But what should I write my haiku about?" you ask, starting to feel comfortable with the idea of writing in sentence fragments of odd-numbered syllables. "That part is simple. Go to the random article generator on Wikipedia and write a haiku about the article/subject that you are sent to."

Now go, my little Haikulets, make sweet syllable love to the world!

p.s. You know you loved the pun in the thread title!

Look at the one in my sig or in Rantzien's 'Gaiku' thread for now. I'll think some new ones up later.

Even better:

Guilty Gear XX
I play as Bridget
...hey, hey, wait, she has a what!?
Wow, this is awkward.

Etrian Odyssey, part 1
We're on our way out
From fighting in the forest
...oh smurf, F.O.E.

Etrian Odyssey, part 2
Oh, it's just a deer
This will be no problem at--
Damn it, we're all dead.

Portal
Speedy thing goes in
Orange portal to blue portal
Speedy thing comes out

Halo 3
Standing on my face
Up down up down up down up
Hey you, knock it off.

Final Fantasy VII
A long black trenchcoat,
Silver hair, mommy issues
And yet you like him?

Guitar Hero 3
Let's try expert mode!
I picked "Through the Fire and Flames".
My fingers hurt now.

Touhou 6: The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil
At last you reach her
A psychotic young lady
You don't continue

Touhou 7: Perfect Cherry Blossom
Phantom butterflies
Alternate from straight to swirl
Before blossoms bloom.

There.

First haiku I ever wrote. Still have the piece of paper from school with one of those generic "well done" stickers on it lying around somewhere.

You need to learn to count. :p:p:p:p:p:p

Haikus are about weather - 7 syllables
from what I have heard before - 7 syllables
but this one is not! - 5 syllables.

And while I know that other forms are acceptable,

Use five syllables
then with seven syllables
finish with five more

Here is a set of four that I wrote up :p

Flowers falling down
Caught in the winds calm embrace
Over a mute lake.

The willows weep green
The flower weeps in deep pink
The heart in blood red.

From the eye above
To the smile far down below
Serenity’s love.

With natures balance
Just like that of Yin and Yang
Beauty comes of two.

Some competition
for the poem DD wrote
for his sweet resha.

Oh resha can you not see?
That we live in a land of misery.
People suffering left and right.
It just isn't right.
But one of the worst lives is mine.
I suffer daily and every time.
I cry for freedom I cry for help.
Yet my calls are not answered.
But you Resha you are my light.
So shine on my life and let me fight.
And we shall go to lands unknown.
Hand in hand with a lovers bond.
Do you wish this or do you not?
Do you want to save me?
If you do then take my hand.
And my misery shall be banned.
So come Resha do you accept me?
As your soul mate to make life an ease.
Or shall you banish my heart to misery.

I wonder if denffe quoted mr. bowser's haiku because of the word genius, because if you said it geen-yus, then it's properly 7.

however, gen-i-us would make it 8.
