So... Metal Gear Solid movie... thoughts?
I for one can see this being done horribly wrong or completely right. It all depends on how far they go to make it feel like the game without it being just... the game without the gameplay.

If a whole series of games that accumulate around 100 hours of gameplay can't make sense of the story I doubt a 2 hour movie will either.

Personally, I wish Kojima would start from the beginning. MGS is kinda a bad place to start. I feel MG is a better choice and gives us a chance to expand on Big Boss and Gray Fox.

What doesn't make sense about the Metal Gear Solid story after Metal Gear Solid 4?

I'd love it if it was done right, but I doubt it. I'll see it because I'm a fan, but you can say I'm a pessimist when it comes to movies based on video games...and for good reason too.

Why even bother? Metal gear solid is near enough a movie with bits of game attached as it is.

Should be sick
This is one of the few movies based on a game that i can actually have somewhat high expectations for.
Especially since Kojimas gonna actually have a hand in it.

There's enough mythology and history to the MGS world for a movie to work.

I'm also rather looking forward to MGS: Philanthropy (http://www.mgs-philanthropy.net), a non-budget fan production from Italy. Dodgy acting aside, it looks like a really high-quality work for something that's essentially home-made.

If Metal Gear Solid 5 is set after the MGS movie, then it's going to be interesting! :p
Big D, that's pretty cool.

The movie is just a remake of the first "Solid" game (the one on Shadow Moses) iirc

Nah, turns out it's actually an "unofficial" MGS2 - a story set after the original game, when Philanthropy's starting to investigate and counter the new Metal Gears that're springing up around the place:)

Lolwut.
I've never heard of it being a movie before, but it should be interesting, to say the least. But why is there a feeling in the pit of my stomach telling me it'll be somewhat like Doom...?

I thought metal gear 4 was a movie???LOL
I'm worried this is going to disappoint a lot of people. I'm not overly a fan of the series, but I don't want to see Snake die on his entry into movies :(
