One time I found this guy who covered Japanese songs in English with really lame translations and cheesy voice. It made me want to cry.

I found this one girl who plays guitar on youtube who I really like. She has some original stuff but also quite a lot of covers such as jack johnson, death cab for cutie...my favourite is her version of "woke up new" by the mountain goats, it's a really lovely version with her own take on it.

I prefer song fandubs to covers, and some are really great. They suspended MilkyCabbage which pisses me off to no end, but StrawBellyCaky (http://www.youtube.com/user/StrawbellyCaky) and Japankati (http://www.youtube.com/user/japankati) do some good ones. Of course, they're German, which might not suit your tastes.

With youtube as my second home (or first even), I know a few musicians such as omgmhazzrocks (http://www.youtube.com/omgmhazzrocks) and musicfromblueskies (http://www.youtube.com/musicfromblueskies) who make some really good covers and originals.

So yes I do listen to covers on YouTube, but I'm mainly watching it because of the person and not the song. It's great way to discover new bands, too. I'm currently falling in love with The Fratellis thanks to a cover done by that Mhazz character.
