The Tanooki » Next DS upgrade right around the corner in Japan (http://www.thetanooki.com/2008/09/27/next-ds-upgrade-right-around-the-corner-in-japan/)

What do you think? I'll probably hang on to my current Lite, thanks. Unless it meets with an unfortunate accident, like my Phat.

Well I'll stick with my Lite, unless there's some godly software that I must use/play that only works on this new one.

Yeah, my DS Lite is pretty much brand new and I don't plan on getting a new one just for some new features. I'm sure they won't be making games specifically for the new DS until it's been out a few years, so I'm not worried about any games I want being too advanced for my DS.

What does the DS need a camera for? :o

Roto13

Well, I heard rumblings that the camera would be implemented in some future games, but so far I haven't seen anything to confirm it as anything more than speculation.

Neat-o new features. Music playback is pretty rad, especially with this supposed SD slot feature. My question is how much more it will cost.

I would buy one if they are offered in NA, cuz I've been meaning to get a DS anywayaaaaaaaaaaa.

Oh yes, if I didn't already have one and this newer, better one came out, I'd definitely spring the forty extra dollars for it. But for current DS owners, I don't see it being worth buying a new one.

Ugh, why Nintendo?

Just to give you something else to complain about, obviously.

I still have a phat gray one that I've had since the winter it came out so I'll stick with it. Althouuuuugh, some of those thingies do look interesting.

That's what my grandma said when they started putting cameras on cell phones.

[!]Or to give uppity faggots something to defend.

I can't really decide at the moment.[/!]

This is not in the LEAST appropriate for the site, something you should know full well. The extent of the action I will be taking has yet to be decided, but do NOT post this crap here.

Hum, I'd take it with a grain of salt.

If I knew about it seven months ago, I wouldn't have bought one and just waited.

But anyways, I'm happy with my DS Lite, and if something happens to it, I'll just buy the new one, like Roto said.

The fact is that I sent my DS to the assistance for a minor problem (the screen would not calibrate) and they said "That can't be fixed, we'll change it". So now I have a glorious brand new DS Lite and I don't think about getting a new one.
Incidentally, am I the only one who thinks it not realistic since they just launched the new DS Lite colors in Europe?

That's what I was saying before Nikkei Net actually confirmed it. That's like the Japanese equivalent of the Wallstreet Journal.

I'm okay with my big gray DS I got in 2005 n.n

...this IS just an upgrade like the DS Lite, right?

That doesn't count. xP Of course there was eventually going to be another redesign. :P That thread is like a year old.

You know what would be a VERY nice feature? A Video-Out port to plug the bloody thing into a TV so you don't go cross-eyed trying to see the tiny screens.

My two-cents...:D

The only problem I see with that idea is that the bottom screen is all touchy-like. :(

well, if they worked it out so that the main game screen was on the TV, but keep the touchpad screen working as well...dunno how that'd affect other games though...I only have FF3 and 4 for mine, and you don't even need the stylus...

Roto13

That would be so awkward. Constantly looking back and forth between the DS in your hands and the TV.

man, I saw the grey model of DS a few days ago and I was pretty much disgusted by how huge it was. I feel for you early adopters!

I don't get the thing about the SD card thing because they already have a microsd slot

Roto13

No they don't. :P

I still need to pick up a DS so I'll see what this offers first, when it's announced. Either way, I'll get a DS with new features I'll use or an older DS at a cheaper price. :)

eh, hand helds should just be used for playing video games, why do you need a camera? music play back? It's all getting a bit much now, that's what I liked about Nintendo how it just stuck to video games and what it did best. I'll stick to my old DS, thanks!

That would be so awkward. Constantly looking back and forth between the DS in your hands and the TV.

Both screens would be shown on the TV, the bottom screen could have like a Dot or something as to where the stylus is currently touching the screen. You would still control the entire game with the DS, but the video and audio would just be on the screen as well.

THE JACKEL

Roto13
09-29-2008, 08:57 PM
That wouldn't work. You'd have to constantly be touching the screen, and that would screw up a hell of a lot of games.

Actually I use the GNM. Cheaper. Can't pirate games but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Certainly see no need to update my DS Lite, but I'm pretty unsurprised by the fact that they're going to add a camera to it. Just seemed the next step somehow. Not terribly surprised by it given the way technology has been going the past couple of years what with mobile phones having a lot of this stuff already.

Need to get me an R4 though.
