Probably the best foreign film I've ever seen. It's an incredible french movie about two children who become friends and play a continuous game of dare, that continues into their adulthood, which starts to become extreme and almost sadistic. It's a romance/suspense/black comedy all rolled into one. The ending was one of the most surprising scenes in any movie I've ever watched.

Download it or watch it on YouTube now.

This does sound rather intriguing.

My favorite foreign movies are Blue, The Machine Girl, and City of God.

edit: And Tsotsi.

I'd like to see it. I know they're the typical answers, but Pan's Labyrinth and Amelie blew me away.

Some of my favorites are by Jean Renoir: Grand Illusion and the River. I also like the works by the Archers: The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, the Red Shoes, and Peeping Tom. I also enjoyed Read my Lips.

I actually watched Amelie for the first time today, and I can safely say it's also in my top 5 best movies I've ever watched. Amazing movie. It was so charming!

I just watched La Vie en Rose, and really liked it, and have discovered that Marion Cotillard is in Jeux D`enfants as well, interesting! She was quite amazing.

Anyways, even though I haven't seen it in forever, I love Run Lola Run. House of Flying Daggers was  <img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" />, I've seen so many good foreign films I'll never remember them all. :(

EDIT: I found 2046 to be really mesmerizing.

Ahhh christ azn movies. I love too many of them. I can't list them. Okay I was totally in love with Crouching Tiger. Ugh, why is my taste in movies so mainstream?

ANYWAY. I hunted down the first part of it without subs on youtube and I liked it quite a bit, but it seemed kind of americanised? I don't know. It looks good anyway, I'll be sure to watch it all at some point - hopefully I'll be able to find it with subs, my french is pretty awful.

Run Lola Run is a great movie. House of Flying Daggers, not so much. I thought it dragged on far longer than it needed to at parts. Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar longer.

Probably the best foreign film I've ever seen.

Vita è bella, La (1997) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118799/). Watch it. Get it. One of the best movies ever made.

That's one of my favorite movies! Life is Beautiful! It makes me cry every time I watch it. Absolutely incredible. I'm due to watch it again though, thanks for reminding me about it.

Good taste, man, unsurprisingly. :jess:

I HATE THAT MOVIE. It is sooooooooooo sad it makes me want to die. Which incidentally makes it a pretty damned good movie.

sounds like an interesting movie, but house of flying daggers, and possibly crouching tiger, hidden dragon (without the gay ending) were the best foreign films ive seen

I might make stu put this on his netflix if it's available.

I've watched quite a few foreign films. Amélie, Manon de la Source (and the prequel to it that I can't htink of the name of), Le Chateaux de ma Mère, one really weird one where there were people who ate turtle soup in the shell, Le Dîner des Côns(which was pretty funny in parts), some movie about a mama's boy who she promises can live with her and her husband forever and then she just can't get him out of the house when he's an adult (very good, wish I remembered the name xD), a film about women in Algeria(this one was pretty depressing), a couple of random japanese films(besides animés) Infection and The Princess Blade, and Don Quixote (in spanish xD)

Oh. I thought we were talking about GOOD foreign movies..?

You must be thinking of a different Old Boy. The one I refer to is from South Korea and is completely kickass. Anyone who thinks otherwise isn't thinking, and so isn't Human, and so can look forward to a lifetime of hard labor in the jelly mines.

Also The Fifth Element god yes <33

Same Old Boy. I'd say it's worth seeing for the hallway fight scene. Rest is pretty contrived.

On topic with The Fifth Element, all of Luc Besson's films are amazing... Well, when he writes AND directs.

Stéphane is the most adorable protagonist in any movie ever and I want to live in the cozy little urban village that his apartment is in.

Wow that was a feminine post.
