Did Katie Holmes complain about her character death in TDK?

I heard that's why she didn't reprise her role in TDK but that seems like a stupid reason not to be a part of the first billion dollar comic book film.

I have never heard anything about that. As far as I know, she didn't want to take the time away from her family.

Hmm, I went there just now and I think I found the place where it's mentioned, but I can't be bothered to read all of it so excuse me if I'm wrong here.

But I'm guessing it was a topic in one of the message boards, and was a baseless claim just thrown out by someone. It seems highly unlikely to me, and what I said before is, I believe, the official reason. Didn't want to take time away from her family, scheduling conflict, etc etc. There are a lot of weirdos over there and I wouldn't believe everything they say.

She didn't reprise her role because she was already comitted to another movie at the time, Mad Money. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0951216/)

Batman Begins was a big success but I don't think that anyone knew going into TDK that it was going to be what it was. I mean, I think more than a few people were just like "wut?" when we heard Heath Ledger was going to be the new Joker.

I mean, I guess it is possible that she didn't do it because of that, but if you're just going off of a random topic on the IMDB boards I would take it with a grain of salt. If you could find an actual interview where she or someone involved in the films said it then it might be a bit more credible.

I thought they asked for a replacement for Katie because so many of the fans hated her. Maggie wasn't exactly my cup of tea. =/ Oh well. Mad Money was funny though, glad she was in it.
