EoFF Elections 2008

Yo! I'm back, and I'm more of an election booth than ever, if that is somehow possible. Would YOU like to be President of EoFF? I'll wager that you would! This year, the Elections are inspired by the US Presidential elections, so you too can be Barack Obama or, if you're feeling particularly brave, John McCain. Read on, friend, read on.

IMPORTANT NOTICE #1: What the hell is going on? Elections? What?! Don't worry. It's just a little bit of fun! It's not important, it doesn't mean anything, it's all for a laugh, and it does not affect the running of Eyes on FF at all. Join up and have some fun yourself!

IMPORTANT NOTICE #2: There are only two parties this year, pre-made by us, your Election Booth friends. So please don't go making your own party threads; they will be closed. Yeah, we know it's a change from the old format, but go on, give it a go, it might be more fun! And if it's not, we'll forget this sorry incident and it'll never happen again, so everybody wins. :greenie: Sorry if you had a great bitchin' party idea, but hey, you can still make that your individual standpoint!

Okay, I get it. But how does this thing work? I'm confused.
It's split into three phases. It's simple!

Phase 1: The Beginning - Take a look at the The Avalanche Party (thread here!) (http://forums.eyesonff.com/general-chat/120788-official-avalanche-party-thread.html) and the Shinra Party (thread here!) (http://forums.eyesonff.com/general-chat/120787-official-shinra-party-thread.html) and join one that appeals to you! You don't actually have to agree with their views, it's just our attempt at being witty and satirical. ;)

Phase 2: The Primaries - These parties are great and all, but you know what they're lacking? A leader! If you want to become the leader of your party, put forward your name! Members of each party will vote for who they want to lead them into battle. (If you're still confused, think of this as Obama vs Clinton vs Edwards to become the Democrat Candidate)

Phase 3: The General Election - The two candidates will go head-to-head in a fight to decide who will become the next President of Eyes on FF! They will be assisted by their fellow party members, who can perform tasks to help swing key forums in their favour. (If you're still confused, think of this as McCain vs Obama, who are helped by the Republican and Democrat party members)

See? It's not that complicated, is it?

Election Booth
10-17-2008, 01:20 AM
Just posting "I want to join this party!" or something similar makes you automatically a member of that party.

Sending in the PM is the application to be leader.

Also, four applications from Shinra, none from Avalanche! A power vacuum exists, folks!

On behalf of all the Ron Paul and third party supporters, I would like to lodge a formal complaint and request that we have a handful of third parties which have no chance of winning what-so-ever.

This post may or may not be serious. It's up to you.

NeoCracker
10-17-2008, 05:50 AM
I already tried. However the system has already shut me down. I whole heartedly encourage all you young voters to make a vote against this system.

Remember, a Vote for The Third Party is a vote for someone other then Shinra or Avalanche.

Tavrobel

But we can offer you cookies and ice cream.

Trying to buy me off with cookies and Ice Cream? Just another one of the systems tactics to force others to conform. I refuse your cookies and Ice Cream, and will instead insult your offer by paying full price for it at a local store.

Unnoticeable and "The Man" shut it down already. The Third Party could not possibly be more successful at being a third party! Less than three!

No, as consolation. Do not believe that I am like the others. I do not believe in the system that buys people off. I believe in the system that offers solidarity. Cookies and ice cream were simply my offerings of condolences. Sad and unfortunate it was. I believe that together we can make the world different, but help will not come from the withdrawal from society.

Pointed at Tav. Though if you don't fight to allow my participation, you show your conformity to the system.

But if really, the fact I"m not the other two parties is the best reason to vote for me.

My platforms are somewhat extreme, and it's probably more beneficial to me if you just ignore them and vote for the above reason instead.

You take points from each and throw it together and slightly change some to suit your ideals. You are the party that others would go to when they can't decide, when they like multiple points. That's how you expect to gain your followers; but you can't come up with the ideals on your own, you have to take from others. It's wishy-washy and not something that should be in power.

NeoCracker
10-17-2008, 07:14 AM

And WTF? Avalanche is just as bad. You're duty is to lure the rebels into your machine and conform then. You're cleverly covered actions will not fool The Third Party. We are not going to conform to the Machine.

I must admit, I too dislike the idea of disallowing people from making new parties. This is oppression!

I have been very much looking forward to the elections on the grounds that I wished to make a political stance about my viewpoints on EoFF rather than being forced to side with someone who shares more of my viewpoints than the other, regardless of whether they are 5% or 75% in line with my ideals.

I refuse to recognise any government elected through this process.

I may need to look into this third party but if it does not suit my ideals closely enough then I may opt to not vote for a third party, either.

Alas, I get the feeling this may be difficult for Americans to understand.

EDIT: Also, it should be noted that I disagree with the process as much as the parties, so joining a party involved in the process would probably only promote the process, whereas I'm looking more for a revolution against the process itself.

I don't recall banning anyone who did such a thing. Perhaps you have me confused with someone else on the staff. Alternatively, perhaps he broke the rules instead of simply saying he wanted a revolution!

Also, anyone who accuses someone of being a hypocrite is being a hypocrite for calling them a hypocrite when they are a hypocrite (because they called them a hypocrite when they are a hypocrite because they called them a hypocrite when they-- oh, you get the idea). 8-)

I will consider the pie chart process. Any process involving a pie chart is at least worthy of some consideration.

For being part of the staff that banned him, you are equally responsible.

And of course he broke rules. He started a rebellion. Aren't rebels, by default, those who go against the establishment snd the rules they have set up? To desire a revolution would be to desire a person who will break these rules.

Well, if you are insistent on drawing the comparison, both were acts of aggression against people they though were in the wrong, so in that sense they are similar. :p

However Terrorists aren't rebelling against a power thats oppressing them, they attacked said power. :p

And I never said you went against rules. I simply point out you wanted a rebellion, yet were for banning a guy who broke the rules in the name of a REbellion. Yet by default, a rebel breaks rules, otherwise he isn't much of a rebel. :p

And remember BoB, if I get elected, it won't be by the system that was here when I started. They only allowed two parties, but me, being the REbel I am, created a third without consent of anyone. I am directly challanging the powers at be regardless of their dirty machine like rules.

That is false propaganda. The "kitten" is actually a Coeurl that we defeat in turn based combat in order to protect the good citizens of the lower forums from being turned to stone. if not for the efforts of the Shinra Party, the FF II forum would have died years ago.

A vote for Avalanche is a vote in support of the forums being overrun by monsters. Do YOU want that?

yo yo yo yo it's cryme time.

Just to clear up some confusion, the application process is not supposed to have any mention of your name or anything like that in it. It's all secret! Why? I will explain the ballot process for the primaries!

You will each get two votes! Basically the idea is that you vote for someone based on how good a candidate you think they are, and you vote anonymously for how good their application is. So it's personality and skills!

If you are an Avalanche Member, your form will look something like this:

Candidates (PICK ONE)
1. Joe Guy
2. Bob Dude
3. Michael Person

You will then see the applications, listed anonymously.

APPLICATIONS (PICK ONE)
Applicant A
Applicant B
Applicant C

The same will be for the Shinra party, but with their candidates and applications. (and it will be blue)

For neutral voters who are not registered to any party, your voting form will be something like this:

Avalanche: (PICK ONE)
Applicant A
Applicant B
Applicant C

Shinra: (PICK ONE)
Applicant A
Applicant B
Applicant C

You won't get to vote for people by name, (ie, your vote is worth less in individual primaries) but you can affect the outcome for both parties.

The person who gets the most votes overall for each party will become their presidential candidate.

PS: 7 Avalanche applicants, 5 Shinra. ;)

And what's worse? They have a "Best of Strangling Kittens" DVD for sale on their website that funds their campaign.

Now excuse me, but there is an report of a vicious pack of Marlboro sighted in the FF XII forum, and they must be stopped before any lives are lost.
It's not false propaganda. <A href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJQVlVHsFF8">Here's a snippet from the DVD...</a>

yo yo yo yo it's cryme time.

PS: 7 Avalanche applicants, 5 Shinra. ;)

Thanks for hexplaining. Now I can actually enter because I am aware of what will be done, and not suspicious that the whole thing is some odd plot to cause drama by revealing things people thought wouldn't be revealed :grover:

Tavrobel

Try integrating.

If the range is from 0 to 9000, that would be a very large number. Value, since it exists in the real world and is a measurable commodity, would have to be positive in all instances, and the function would have to be continuous, and is not dependent on time. After all, integration is the area under the curve. I could integrate by rotating a function around an axis and solve for the derivative value of the second axis, but that would give me an even higher total.

Well, to be perfectly fair, that is a function that isn't dependent on time. Touche. But you forgot the +C.
That is my point. When integrating, the +C is not known unless there is both an upper and lower bound. Everybody can define their own C, nobody else can set it for them.

Tavrobel
10-18-2008, 03:50 AM
Yes, but because value is measurable, it would have to be large enough to bring the whole of cosine above the axis.

Also, because this be the internet, the lower bound is 0, and the upper bound is 9000.01.

You all misunderstand true Communism. It isn't like what Stalin or Mao wanted, true Communism comes from the ability to freely share creativity and all sorts of benefits to the other. Property belongs to the people. But it depends on the idea that people are essentially trustworthy and altruistic.

Shinra denies it by turning the world into a zero-sum game. Where there are winners and losers, when there is a perfectly suitable win-win-win situation to be had; win because the person wins, win because the other person wins, and me winning for having successfully mediated a conflict. A fourth, optional win occurs when Wizpig is defeated. But Shinra would have none of that. They tell us to use Drumstick, but we say that we should all use T.T. the clock.

I understand your sentiments entirely. I felt the same way once. But realistically, there is no hope of changing the system without becoming part of the system. I understand the distasteful nature of that, but it is reality. And surely you can see that the malleable, open-minded, rational Avalanche is more suited to effecting change than the fascistic, entrenched Shinra? I think we can all recognize that Avalanche is not a perfect party and does not have a perfect platform, but the fundamental difference is that Avalanche can change and adapt, whereas Shinra cannot. Communism is a great idea. But it doesn't work. By creating a power-infrastructure you have people with power fighting other people with power. And as long as anyone can rise to become those people with power and the power struggle maintains to be everlasting, the land/country/world will stay free. You can try and get rid of that power, but you have someone you will always have someone trying to gain power. People aren't perfect, people have greed, people want strength. So to get rid of people's natural desire for power you need to create a government, which in turns holds the people down. But who holds that power? And who stops the holder of that power from becoming corrupt? And if someone overthrows someone stricken with greed, who stops that person from becoming greedy? And continue that to infinity.

A struggle for power, creates a democracy, it drives people to do good. You're type of altruistic idea of "freedom" doesn't work, and starts dictatorships.

Seriously, you really need to learn how to use "your" and "you're" properly.

The very government which you have helped to spawn holds people down; you have said it yourself. By the values of education and a free flow of information, people will be able to cast off the shackles of ignorance; no need there would be for a system that ensures policing for the people would have the ability to do it themselves. Government is not an instrument of oppression; neither should the people be afraid, nor shoudl the government fear the people.

It is a contract. And either side is held responsible by its own constituency; however, your dastardly regime has stripped away the consequences for the government, and pushed it onto the people. Unable are they to live their life freely. If in fact, they choose to live as evil and cruel people, it should be the fault of the person. However, your societal infrastructure pushes and holds people down to the bottom. You have said it yourself, and it is your self-perpetuating prophecy.

Because you are trying to use Communism as a means, if I might even say, a strawman, to bring down our form of criticisms, when it fact, it reflects you all the clearer. Maybe you need to grow up before you can hang with the big boys and learn yourself some comprehension and ability to read text. Your rhetoric doesn't use anything, and instead drops down to the level of ad hominem instantly; it doesn't rely on logic, your own credibility, or even emotions. It is nothing, and unpersuasive; you carry on as though it were some sort of knack and are proud of yourself for having it. Yet you attack me with no ability to even read my words and comprehend what my response to your words were. For shame. Then again, he is 'invicible', so be careful, 'kay?

EDIT: Oh, so he was just mocking you. I guess he really is 'invicible'!

Now you get it! :thumb:

When all else fails, pretend you were joking, of course.

You know Mr Nice tried to to that when he was trolling. How did that work out, GB? It didn't. Sorry. Your only recourse is to dive headfirst into the shallow end.

When debating with someone who has every intention of just trying to cut you down, and not actually debate, you're better off not even giving the person your time of day. I can use 'your' and 'you're' properly I choose not to care ;p

We're not communist. We're egalitarian. We don't contend the natural order of things - threads which people approve of and are interested in will flourish, thread which people don't like will flounder and die.

Avalanche simply supports the right for members to make threads. We do not expect equality of consequence; only equality of oppurtunity. Unlike the Shinra, who seek to mandate which threads can and cannot be made. It is Shinra who seeks the power and control and to mandate what is acceptable and what is not.

You know, most of the time you're busy improperly using it, you would actually manage to cut down on keystrokes. You've been typing "you're" more often that "your." Seriously, now. I am concerned for your wrist and fingers. How can you so disapprove of my concern for even my enemies? I have invited you to my table on the stipulation that you be prepared to discuss all manner of things with me, and yet you continually deny me. Why are you so cruel, Shinra?

If Avalanche were to gain power, you'd do the same to us.
No, we would share in wine and tears, for we are agents of solidarity. We will accept even our enemies in arms, because change is best effective when the people are looking toward the future. Your courses of action make no recompense for us.

Law & Order
The Avalanche Party will strip Cid's Knights of their power to ban users and close threads. Posting hardcore pornography and "buy cheap nike jordan shoes" are just ways of users expressing themselves, and creativity should not be stifled. If a user comes into your visitor messages showing hostility, you should passively allow him to do and take what he wishes, and remain calm until he leaves.

The Economy
The Avalanche Party will shun corporate sponsorship, and EoFF will be ad free. However, users will have to pay for membership. Long-time members, having had more use out of the site, will be in a higher tax bracket than newer members.

Immigration
The Avalanche Party thinks that EoFF belongs to everyone, and new users from GameFAQs, Gaia Online and the YouTube comments section will be encouraged to join, and their presence will be just as valued as long-time EoFFers. Anyone who tells them off for embracing their own unique language (lol this vid is COOL!!!!!) will be outed as a racist.

Those who comment on YouTube are actually very pleasant when you agree with them. Try disagreeing sometime. They will attack all at once, which proves that you will always have backup in any argument that arises.

So yes, a nice, happy place where you can say what you want-- and if someone calls you out on it, you can have your friends fight with you. Ah, the 'invicible' powers of friendship-- knowing that someone's always got your back.

So what do we match, then? The part where Boxer can't even learn more than four letters at a time, like the unfortunate people who you oppress, and can not learn? The part where Benjamin freaks out when Boxer is sent to the gluehouse? Like when you invaded GHF for all of the wrong reasons and condemned people to death? We were the ones who freaked out, and could do nothing, and yet you did not listen. The part where the pigs decided that they were the ones on top, just like Shinra has placed itself? The part where the animals could not tell the difference between the humans and the pigs? Nay, GB, you are the ones who are the pigs, arguing amongst yourselves, the tastes of fine wine and decadence at the expense of the people.

Please don't tell me to get out. Please tell yourself to go back to school, learn yourself even a passing familiarity of the English language, and some literary comprehension. Please learn some rhetoric, or persuasion. Learn something, anything. Learn math, or learn science. Then get back to me when you even carry a conversation in any one single subject of your choice besides that of the heaping pile of fail you have resigned yourself to. I implore you to leave the cave and to stop staring at the shadows on the wall.

I'm undecided on which party to join. Bring me over to your side.

The Third Party Obviously.

WE are the only one upfront about our goals.

The current system is but a MAchine, with a two parties to create the illusion of choice.

However, by spending effort to create this illusion, effectiveness lowers.

I wish to create an unmasked tyrany, that can easily change its rules on a moments notice to accomidate changes.

This is something that cannot be accomplished with the current machine.

I implore you, join us - we shall make Avalanche the party which the people deserve, and we shall take them to victory!

My dear friend, I am teh only one changing the system. My mere presence made EB say that he may even put me on teh Ballot, even though the rules clearly set up a two party system.

I am the only one with the Power to change the system, or at least the only one who will use such power.

Support the Third Party, and I garuntee the system will change more and more. Supporting the Machine created by the system will do nothing.

Sad, earnest Gemberling, there is not else in the world for you. Indeed it is a sad day, that you have so mark'd and scathed your name with marred words. You have stained your honor, discarded your rank and standing.

But, perhaps if you were given the option twice, you would make it again. An indelible mark forever and ever has been cast unto your name, and like the despondent Criseyde, your name will ever henceforth be remembered as an unfaithful. This means, that I can only imagine that primaries will begin on the 21st, with debates and voting coming shortly after, however, I can't be certain as I haven't had a chance to speak with EB. When ever I call, officials say he is currently unavailable and ask if this is Cousin Eddie.

I do know that I have been criticized for being recently unbanned and becoming so involved in politics, but isn't that precisely who should be involved, the ones who have seen both the pretty and the ugly sides of the current administration? The one who has seen the repercussions of his actions come to fruition as well as being a liberator for others! This might be one cereal election, but I promise to bring you full facts and opinions, without telling you which is which, in order to inform you, the voter!

This is a special, live update brought to you by me, Marick D. Pauper.

I'm Marick D. Pauper. You stay classy Eyes on FF.

If you wish to be a candidate, now is the time to apply!

Shinra have 7 at the moment, Avalanche have 10 (and they had 2 that dropped out) so perhaps Shinra need more to provide more competition?

Voting begins tomorrow with the revelation of the applications. :strut:

7 to 8? Sounds even enough to me. Besides, quality over quantity. ;)

Marick D. Pauper is broadcasting live here at the election officials headquarters with a special report. At the beginning of the race, there were two parties, Avalanche and Shinra. Both stood at clear opposite ends of the spectrum, however, feeling that this system stood as a clear injustice to freedom, a one Neocracker took it upon himself to create a the unofficial official third party, which was later eliminated by election official chairman Election Booth for violating rules and sending bomb threats to the Office of Elections. However, this reporter risked his life to hunt down information on the Third Party as well as held a private interview with Neocracker. Here's the report:

The official Third Party had acknowledge that the war against God Hates Fraggles was becoming a nuisance, and in acknowledging that, proposed a radical new idea: deleting the entire community from existence and history, thus by exterminating the process. In my private interview, Neocracker added that even "speaking of GHF would be a bannable offense" and that under his administration, "watchdogs would patrol forums, user messages, and private messages scanning for any mention and banning members violently without warning." Let us also analyze that destroying the community would only strengthen Bleys' resolve, and it would prove no easy task with individuals like Unne and the accursed Raistlin helping him.

In addition to that banning power, Neocracker was opposed to powers of being able to view private information, and instead would give Cid's Knights a more broad power to be able to ban on suspicion alone. While some Cid's Knights might be very adept as determining who is and is not a threat, many will start to abuse this power and unless total submission was given by a user, they would be banned. I am confident that this is quite a troubling matter.

More puzzling is the fact that the Third Party wanted to remove all membership fees as well as advertisements, claiming they had their own means of revenues. When questioned further, Neocracker responded by saying he has "five drug rings ready to launch across the world to support EoFF, as well as many multiple accounts that the current administration has yet failed to pick up on" stating that he has a near limitless supply of cashflow. When pressed further if he would corrupt the users to drug use, his response indicated more totalitarian idealogies stronger than Shinra's in his belief that "drugs have the capability to control them [the masses] and anyone who gets out of line will be forced to become addicted." While I hope it wouldn't come to this, and if everyone was in line, with free communities and not taxation without misrepresentation, which is a huge plus, it is still a frightening dilemma we could have found ourselves in.

On his immigration status, he said that newbies should only be allowed to make stereotypical newbie threads, claiming "it will allow for a divide for the oldbie elite and the newbie failures who think they are big shots." And while limiting newbie posts to fifty characters might sound appealing, we still have some newbies who are just as valid as any oldbie, and oldbies just as full of fail as newbies. The biggest issue that would raise backlash would be the adoption of a clause stating that 2009 would be the cut point for newbies vs. oldbies. When questioned about the backlash to this, Neocracker stated that it was to be "expected. Not all policies are liked, they are meant to be decisive. It is my way, or the highway. You're with us or against us." yadda yadda.

Also, his position that only the president is important ultimately seems to lead us to a one-man rule dictatorship worse than the many-manned rule that Shinra or Avalanche suggest. AT least their MIGHT be bickering when they are deciding how to screw us over next.

But all these facts beg the question. Why did Neocracker create the Third Party, when he acknowledged that he "would be denied," but added he "managed to Shake up the election, as even EB himself said I may be allowed on the Ballot." Neocracker stated "This party was made to destroy the community and reestablish a more dominant rule." And while the Third Party seemed to be the most radical of all, we must also remember that it fought in the guise of justice and equality, stating that the political machine was what it meant to fight, and that election officials like Election Booth were part of a "corrupt and unjust" system.

I have yet to get hold of Election Booth for comment. The last statement I received from an election official said that they weren't interested in whatever I was selling and to stop calling.

There you have it, the facts straight from Marick D. Pauper, unedited, unfiltered, and just! Also, don't miss the recent articles about the Shinra (http://forums.eyesonff.com/general-chat/120787-official-shinra-party-thread-6.html#post2581951) and Avalanche (http://forums.eyesonff.com/general-chat/120788-official-avalanche-party-thread-6.html#post2581888) parties.

The tables have been against me from the Get Go.

Thats like saying the tables turned in the Civil War after Shermans March, which in all reality had nothing to do with the Souths defeat. :p

I was destined to lose because people dont' realize what is truly best for them like I do.
