So, for the sake of a new topic...

I've recently acquired a bunch of new games, which has affected my game-beating plans somewhat. Basically, I'm just curious about which game you guys think I should play next. :P

The games:
FF I
FFII
FFIII DS
FF IV DS (though I have played FF IV recently)
FF V
FF VIII
FF IX
FF XII: RW
FF Tactics: War of the Lions
FF Tactics Advance
FF TA2
...and also these:
The World Ends With You
TLoZ Twilight Princess

So yeah, a lot of games. o.0'
I also need to decide which game I should finish right now...I'm quite far in both Crisis Core -FFVII- and Phantom Hourglass.

I'd say play FFVIII or FFIX next but I'm biased - I just happen to like those games most out of that list.

There's not a bad game on the list, so it's going to be up to your preferences. Needless to say, you'll get a lot of different opinions here.

Is there a certain type of world you feel like playing in?

FF I - If you want to play the game all the nerds talk about. You'll find yourself having to grind somewhat but not too bad. The map is hard to follow sometimes, atleast for me, and you can play with whatever party (four total) you want out of Warrior thief black belt white mage red mage and black mage.

FFII - If you want a game that you can grind forever and well thats about it... You play as three main characters and sometimes get a forth. In the end you get a forth to keep until you beat the game.

FFIII DS - Play this to say "hey sora, I beat ff3 and you never did" other then that I can't tell you about it.

FF IV DS (though I have played FF IV recently) - If you liked what you've played of IV go for it.

FF V - This is the final fantasy a lot of people liked but don't admit it. Every time someone is like oh I liked jobs... yeah. There are many jobs here and the characters can get real suped up. IF you like crystals in final fantasy then yeah this ones for you.

FF VIII - If you have emotions this game is for you. Also can get sometimes boring like drawing and waiting for abilities to learn but over all I think its got the best graphics in any ff. you can like the hero but he can be sad and lonely.

FF IX - This is a well round ff. If I was you I'd take use of the steel command and always buy one of every item you can. With Zidane always stealing, you should stay stocked up on potions and what nots.

FF XII: RW - again people can rub it in my face that I never played this.

FF Tactics: War of the Lions - Same as above...

FF Tactics Advance - this is the first game you should play if your wanting an Ivalace story. Follow after this game is like Vagrant story, tactics and the 12 combo. and tactics advanced two.

FF TA2 - Never played..

...and also these:

The World Ends With You - I'd keep this and the next one as games to play when you get tired of all the ff titles. Like if you are stuck or your head feels to cramed of random encounters.

I vote Final Fantasy V. It doesn't get enough love. Or Twilight Princess, Midna is awesome.

Like Mullet said, they are all good games, all I can do is describe them and see what fancies you the most. ;)

FF I: Great game, get to choose your own starting party and go on a good old D&D style adventure. There's a bit going on in the backstory but if you are looking for drama I'm afraid this is not the game you seek. Though I consider it pretty dramatic and has my favorite ending in the series.

FFII: First plot driven FF with a cast with actual names (though you can change them) Its storyline is really solid and the gameplay is hit or miss for most people. Overall, an underappreciated gem of a game.

FFIII DS: My favorite of the NES era FFs. Introduction of the job class system. The DS version features a stronger story by giving names and personalities to the characters as well as the feature to talk to guest characters. Solid battle system, one of the most enchanting fantasy worlds in the FF series. Its a personal favorite of mine.

FF IV DS (though I have played FF IV recently): I have not played the DS version or I am broke but most tell me that if you like IV it will make you quite happy.

FF V: The best version of the Job class system in the main FF series. Great story though its generally underappreciated (I hope you have the GBA version though) excellent battle system and one of the more funny and charming games in the series. Also has some of Nobuo's best musical tracks.

FF VIII: Great game marred by a few technical problems, learn why fanboys won't shut-up about KH not doing justice to one of the most interesting protagonists in the series. Like II the battle system is love it or hate it. Music is solid and the FMVs are beautiful even if a few were unnecessary. Interesting yet bizarre plot...

FF IX: My favorite of the PS1 generation of FFs, great cast, story, music, and some of the best FMVs in the series no question. Battle system is a bit backwards in innovation but it just means you don't have to really deal with tutorials. Its really a gem of a game.

FF XII: RW: Have not played yet

FF Tactics: War of the Lions: An improvement on a game I consider one of the finest games in existence. The story got a much better translation. The story is epic and the cast is one of the finer and deeper casts in the entire FF series. But the plot revolves around politics so if that is not your thing, take what I say with a grain of salt. The best version of the Job class system ever imo and SRPG action that has not been topped since though many wonderful contenders have tried.

FF Tactics Advance: Its combat is not as difficult or as deep as FFT's imo but its story is quite good and dark despite what some would say. An underappreciated gem of an SRPG.

FF TA2: Haven't played

...and also these:
The World Ends With You: Haven't played
TLoZ Twilight Princess: Wii or Gamecube version? Either way it has one of the best Zelda storylines in the series and quite a few thought provoling dungeons and puzzles. The Wolf transformation is better implemented into gameplay and story feeling less gimmicky than previous installments. Beautiful graphics and a good soundtrack.

Hope this helps despite being a bit bias...

Good advice, everyone. I think I should make an effort to beat the spinoffs first, while the original games are still fresh in my memory. My main issue is whether I should play older games before newer games...Meh, I'll think I'll alternate between them all.
So, maybe it'll go: spinoffs, then alternating between older ff, newer ff, tactics, other...

Eh...I'll just see how I feel after beating CC and Phantom Hourglass.

How long are FFs I and II? If I can get through them relatively quickly, I might get to them faster. It takes me about 40 hours on average to get through an FF, though I think that's only taking into account VII and up.

FFI and II shouldn't take that long I would think. They're a little longer than they probably should be due to the need to grind, but they shouldn't be that bad. Then again I've never beaten them (though I'm about halfway through FFI. I'll pick it up again sometime).

If I were to say what you should play first, I'd go with either FFV, IX, or Tactics. IX is my favourite numbered game on the list, V has my favourite battle system in the series and decent enough characters and plot, and Tactics is simply a better game than anything else there. I'm actually playing through War of the Lions for the first time now.

Play TA before you play TA2 because you might not be able to go back to TA once you do. :P

If you like an intense plot with unanswered questions relating to itself when compared to other FF games, go for FFVIII.

I've played both and I would gladly go back to FFTA, if only to have TA's immensely better story and better judge system again. But that's just me. =/

Try playing the FF games in order to feel the evolution ;)

^Yeah, I'd have to say, based on the little bit that I've now played of every numbered FF, the jump from FFs 1-6 to FFs 7 and 8 must have been very jarring for a lot of fans. I bet that by the time I get to FF IX after having played all the ones before it, I'll really appreciate it as an homage of sorts. ^_^

>>> Play ff1 and ff2, those games are harder than the others, so the next ones you play will be a walk in the park.
