Sometimes they're really good, and sometimes they're terribly bad.

So, what are some of your favorite and least favorite covers? :D I know I have more bad than good choices. I just can't think of any this early in the morning. :monster: (YES 10:40 IS EARLY!! :mad2:)

I like the cover Presidents of the United States of America did for Cleveland Rocks. That's a good one I can think of now.

I liked TV On The Radio (http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug4m02EOE3k)'s cover of 'Mr. Grieves' by The Pixies (http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=Xjr-1r2b_ps).

Mixed feelings about this one (http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=-VRgaAHNNT8)...

Walking With a Ghost cover by the White Stripes is, without a doubt, the worst cover ever made. Ever.

The Decemberists' cover of Joanna Newsom's Bridges and Balloons is superb. There are also a lot of good Dylan covers in the movie I'm Not There, my favourite being Mason Jennings' version of The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll.

I always trot out this answer - Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah is brilliant.

Kirobaito's cover of Both Sides Now (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsTzEirlPGc) is better than Joni Mitchell seems to do it these days (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqQlfFuQFXo). :P Seriously.

I like Fiona Apple's Across the Universe, Vanessa Carlton's Paint It Black, Gary Jules' Mad World, and all the covers done for The Nightmare Before Christmas except that piece of <img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /> cover of This Is Halloween by Panic! At the Disco.

I like everything from Ten Masked Men. :)
Look them up and raise the volume to 11.

Big Black's He's A Whore is way better than Cheap Trick's original.

I've always found Marilyn Manson's version of Sweet Dreams to be amazing, personally.

Yep. All of his covers are generally pretty radical, but this one is like the Marilyn Manson song.

His covers of I Put a Spell on You and Tainted Love are also pretty radical.

Personal Jesus is easily Mansons best song, even if it is a cover. :p

And yes, Cash's Hurt is epic. Very.

Alien Ant Farms Smooth Criminal is far better then the original too. :p

Though quite possibly the worst, by far, is My Chemical Romance and The USed - Under Pressure.

That is quite possibly the only cover so horrible that I feel they should beaten within an inch of their life for desacrating a masterpiece.

And don't get me wrong, I actually enjoy quite a few of MCR's songs, and a couple from the used. But GOD that was so horrible.

I really enjoy the Dresden Dolls cover of "Two Headed Boy" originally by Neutral Milk Hotel. Also, Regina Spektor does an awesome cover of Lennon's "Real Love." There's this really obscure British band "Butterflies on Strings" that covers Bridges and Balloons by Joanna Newsom that makes me wet myself a little bit. I can't really think of any bad ones right now!

Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower" is classic.

I'll have to also put my money in with almost any Johnny Cash cover. In particular, his take on "In My Life" gives the original justice.

Yeah. That basically makes me wish I was dead.

The Killers have some really good covers, notably Shadowplay by Joy Division (http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=FIe3IgmdSlI) and Romeo and Juliet by Dire Straits. (http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=87cLyBR1JTo) (althogh the original is amazing too)

And yeah, Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah. Best cover ever.

How could I forget about the epicness of Unkle Cracker - Drift Away.

He smurfing ruined This is Halloween though.

Oh, I know, but if you notice that is post- Golden Age of Grotesque and therefore post-good-Manson. Personal Jesus made me want to dig my ear drums out with rusty spoons.

Oh yeah I remember the worst now - Christina Aguilera, Mya, Pink and Lil Kim mauling Lady Marmalade. The video makes me feel nauseous too.

No, Under Pressure is still worse then Walking with a Ghost Cover. :p

And yes, Smooth Criminal is better as the cover, and I grew up listening to, and quite enjoying, Michael JAckson. Though I actually hated his version of SMooth Criminal. :p
