So who else is looking forward to this game.
The gameplay is gonna be like a harder version of Resi 4 it seems, and theres no doubt it will be a fun play.
I dunno how well the drop in-drop out 2 player function will work, but we shall see.
Im a bit pissed that they have killed off Jill though.
Also, that they are continuing from Resident Evil 4, so that means Las Plagas rather than T-Virus :(
Hopefully there will be some serious Wesker-ass kicking!

Watch the newest (I think) trailer for Resident Evil 5, it features Wesker kicking the ass of chris in a cool fashion. Also, so what if it features the Las Plagas it isn't that bad an idea.

YES xD
I know, it was a pretty cool idea. i just much prefer zombies to the Las Plagas. i s'pose zombies arent as challenging when using an over-shoulder view point either

I don't think people should set their expectations too high. For one the game is now based completely on co-op and that just reminds me of Army of Two. At least its not another escort mission but it should be optional either way.

I'm still miffed with the direction this series has taken. More so than ever with Resident evil 5. We have plenty of third-person shooters on the market and while I'm not against Capcom making its own it has in the process removed one of the last remaining survival horror series. And I don't want anyone claiming that the series is still scary as its not, especially now with Resident Evil 5 being in broad daylight. But I'm not going to dwell on that.

I'll probably buy Resident Evil 5 seeing as its coming out in March of next year and I don't think I'm planning to buy anything else around that time. Hopefully Capcom can surprise me this time but I'm not counting on it.

I am so fucking excited oh my god. I don't want to wait. :( I'm trying to cope by just playing Resident Evil 4 over and over and over again. Maybe have another go at Resident Evil, and try Resident Evil 2.

But yeah, I am pumped. I loooove the Las Plagas thing, I think it's really cool and fresh, and I think taking it to Africa this time is going to be sweet. =)

And I don't care what anyone thinks, I'll say it anyways, I found RE4 to be scary. Regenerators? Oh my god. I dunno, maybe I'm just a pansy or something, but I don't care. Come on RE5! :hyper:

I'm not that excited, mainly because RE5 is just RE4 with africans. Srsly, IT'S EXACTLY THE SAME GAME (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxg5PNviqLg)

How can you top a crazy Spanish midget with a giant robot version of himself? Just...how do you do it?

The idea of an entire village coming after you would be much more scary if they could just destroy you once they see you. But, since it's not a helpless fight, it's really just a shooter with a few little puzzles once in a long while. Kinda like RE4.

Loved 4, best thing to happen to the series. I can't wait for 5. Of course I'm a white American, so I'll have to hide that I play it from everyone lest I be called racist. If only I could openly brag about slaughtering Africans as I did with the Spanish.

The lack of any real Resident Evil aspects of RE4 and RE5 keeps me from being excited about this game. It's not resident evil anymore. It's just an action game with creepy music. I won't even call it survival horror.

The only reason I will get this game is so I can kill black people.

Resident Evil 5 will be better than Resident Evil 1-3 because it won't control like http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif. It remains to be seen whether or not it will be superior to RE4 (http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifhttp://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gifty controls and all). I'm looking forward to it, but in a different way than how I used to look forward to RE games. I don't think it'll be creepy or scary, but it'll still probably be loads of fun, but not as a survival horror. I must say I prefer the creepy setting though, as survival horror is my favorite genre. :D Too bad Alone in the Dark also took the same route as Resident Evil. The newest one looks more like Tomb Raider than anything.

The puzzles sucked donkey ass in RE4 and I hope they make that part way more challenging.

Bumpin' this seeing as there's now a demo availiable for download on Xbox Live. (and maybe PSN? I don't know.)

Anyone played it yet? I have. It is seriously fucking intense. I played it with my brother and damn, those crazy fuckers do not let up. If anyone wants to co-op this with me on XBL then you're welcome to.

Yeah it was pretty hardcore tbqh, more of them from more angles than I expected. And that big dude with the axe was actually seriously tough to take out.

And yeah it's not survival horror anymore but, on the other hand, it's actually fun.

Axe guy wasn't so bad. He still smurfed me up, but shotgun + uppercut handled him pretty well. Now, chainsaw guy, I'd ran out of ammo by the time I met him. Knife vs Chainsaw. I don't need to tell you that it ended with Chris's head coming off.

It's not survival horror in the traditional sense, but it does put the emphasis on survival. Unlike Resident Evil 4 where my strategy was to murder anyone who looked remotely undead, you can't really afford to do that because you'll just get swarmed.

I think the controls are a bit clunky and unintuitive though. I think that control scheme worked better for a slower-paced game like RE4.

Really? That is odd. I remember the video they had when the game was announced and Chris 'The Man' Redfield was just beating down the darkies xD Don't tell me xenophobic Japan actually gave into perceived racism. I just find that to be a bit weird that they would change that.

It was pretty hard, but definitely fun with another human to joke about stuff and form some rudimentary tactics. Which was mainly, 'RUN!'

Capcom was pressured into putting all the races of the rainbow in the game because some black dude writing for the New York Times called it a racist game. :monster:

I'm fairly certain (but not 100%) that the creatures in RE5 are another strain of the Las Plagas virus from RE4. I assumed that Wesker acquired the sample and is using it to continue testing to create super-humans he can control or some such nonsense.

Anyway, played the demo solo and with a friend. Definitely found it to be more enjoyable co-op, as I didn't have to keep pressing "B" to call Sheva to me so she wouldn't die. I certainly found it fun, and while not scary it was rather tense at times (which resulted in yelling, which is also very fun with co-op). I do hope they polish a lot of the animations though. Some look too stiff, and things like Chris's "Stomp" action which I assume I'll be seeing a lot just don't have that level of "oomph" they should. Still, thoroughly enjoyed the demo levels and am definitely looking forward to the release.

I absolutely agree with Rase about Chris's puny little stomp. Capcom need to take lessons from Gears of War. That is how you stomp.

It opened to Silver members today (I guess Microsoft thought some gamers would pay 50 dollars for a Gold membership because they couldn't wait one more day to get it). I had nobody else to play with and Sheva is more of a pain in my ass than anything. I would honestly do better without her. And the controls of this game are just awful XD But nothing I can't get used to. I overall liked it, but it will take some adjusting to when I get my hands on the real game.

Oh, Chris was just fine when we met Dr. El Salvador. It was Bint who suffered, OG COG style. :(

And yeah multiracial lulz are great, especially as when you're watching cutscenes you know Campcom were like "Should we change them too?" "Eh cba".

I agree about this. I haven't played RE 3, but what i liked about the Resident Evil series, is that it put fear into you. I played the first two games and found it unique at the time that I was put into a situation with hardly any weapons or bandages while a whole horde of zombie humans and creatures coming after me. RE4 didn't scare me in the least and I didn't really like it's puzzles either. That one in the basement you had to solve as Ashley was near impossible to solve unless you cheated or if you're Steven Hawkins.

I might try this. It's coming out for the Wii right?

Darkswordofchaos

resident evil has defanitly gone from survival horror to more of an action game. somtimes i miss the bad camra angles that cause things to jump out at you unexpectantly and the puzzles were way better, i also liked the running around. RE4 is more straight forward.

I like it just as good but for diffrent reasons

I doubt RE5 will be on the Wii. The Wii could not handle the mad graphics going on in this game.

Also that puzzle was easy as hell...okay. I admit I don't know what puzzle you are talking about but my answer would remain the same. I had no trouble blazing through things as Ashley.

I have played the demo for RE5 and I am don't really like it so much. I am sure with an easier difficulty it would be fine on your own. Problem with the game is that enemies take quite a bit to kill and your computer partner is a fucking retard. For a game where precise aim matters a lot, A.I. for a partner should be god like, really good or GTFO of the way. She does none, gets her ass kicked, eats up ammo and is just bad.

I wish for an easy mode because the enemy strength is built for 2 human players and not 1.1 players(.1 for the retarded AI). I had no problem with the regular zombies but that chainsaw guy does not go down. I would like to have her run around dodging while I take him down with the rifle from far away...but NNOOOOOO she has to ride your dick like crazy(that would be awesome if it literally happened XD).

I seriously feel like I am doing this on my own with a ammo wasting dip:skull::skull::skull::skull:.

Then the inventory system has been screwed. They went backwards by making them just slots again.

I was gonna buy this game but now I don't think that I will.

I've played through each area a couple times more for fun and I don't find it that hard save for Sheva. I've only failed twice and it was her fault both times. Bitch needs to learn how to move out of the way. Or I need to learn how to make friends by March, one or the other! This is why I always say never have a partner if you're going to run away from black people for 5 minutes or so. It's an old saying here in Indiana.

Yeah, things that worked fine in 4 just weren't as effective in 5, much of the time. Even headshots don't do what they used to. That said I don't object to difficulty, most of the time 4 was a cakewalk.

guys, when i played the demo i was agreeing with you all and thinking this game wasnt as good as resi 4, i was even contemplating not getting it. after having just spent the last hour playing on co op with a friend, let me tell you, resi 5 blows resi 4 out of the water and i cant wait for it.

in single player i found that the girl was a waste of space and ammo was eaten too quickly because the enemies absorbed too many bullets.

in co op the girl wasnt a problem obviously and the ammount of ammo seemed to be just right. also, uppercutting and stomping is very effective.

it took is about 5-6 tries to beat the chainsaw guy, and there is no way i could do that on single player mode, which leads me to believe capcom set the difficulty to very high on the demo, so the game should be easier

me and my buddy found that him grenading then kicking the chainsaw guy while i stood back and sniped him did the job.. eventually

if anyone wants to play co op, let me know

If you know how to do those puzzles, that's the easiest puzzle in the entire series. If you don't see the solution right from the off though, you'll be there for hours. You're not stupid for finding different things hard.

I have been through the demo twice by myself and twice with a friend. The co-op was a lot more fun for sure, and much easier too. Dunno why people are finding the demo difficult. The AI is horrible and just so weirdly designed. They will run towards you then start slowly walking once they are close. Its like they want to give you a chance. I think the game looks a lot harder than it really is.

The controls are also incredibly dated. After playing Dead Space it really shows RE5 in a different light. Its not even the fact that you can't walk and shoot, but just everything else. When you compare RE5 and Dead Space's control scheme they're not even that different, its just Dead Spaces has been tweaked a hell of a lot more. I prefer Type D's control scheme the most for RE5, the default feels awful.

Other than those issues I don't have that many issues with the game. But all the hype around this game seems a little over-blown. Far better games to look forward to. Yet I still see RE5 as the one the media will give the most attention too.
