Well its Halloween and I figured we could give this topic a go even if it only lasts a day. What are the scariest moments or things in the FF series. Whether its the concept of the artificial black mages from IX or even X-2's existence. ;)

I can't think of anything.

Final Fantasy isn't scary. :P

The only times I've been remotely scared in a FF is when I'm on a timed portion and I'm almost out of time, but that's almost more nervous then scared.

Well I get kinda scared when I run out of potions, mp, and cures when exploring a dungeon.

In FF8 when the party are reminiscing (spelling?) about their past in the orphanage, and then Quistis was like "Hey, you guys remember matron?" and then she came out of nowhere I was like OMG!

I dono why but that was so frickin scary.

The only time I get ascared is when the dungeon music is quiet or almost relaxing and about to nod off when all of a sudden CRASH a random encounter pops outta nowhere!

the shinra mansion had that ambience, during the flashback when sh#@$# starts getting crazy, and even when you go back.

Learning about Seymour's past in X was very creepy, especially the memory sphere with Jyscal.

The night of the parade in FFVIII was a little bit like that, very atmospheric.

The opening section at nalbina fortress in FFXII is very dramatic, almost has an eery feeling to it, especially what he sees when Rex says "Your Majesty..."

The first 6 games + 9 were all kinda campy/corny/cutesy.

Atomos, from any game, but particularly IX. That scene at Lindblum... *shiver*

A lot of bosses in IV were just scary visually, like the Antlion and the Octomammoth.

Anima, which is almost like a scarier version of Atomos. *shudder shudder* Not to mention Yunalesca. O_o

Even regularly normal moments can be scary if the right music is played. For instance, Calcobrena from IV, escaping Shinra Tower in VII, Esper battles in XII, etc.

When those Death Walls on FFXII start moving, it gives me the creeps.

That and seeing those round Entites on Nam Yensa at level 60 when you are level 25!!!!

The flashback scene and ShinRa Masion in general scared me as a kid, but that was probably because of the Mansion itself. I had a bad experience playing Resident Evil when I was even younger, silly parents letting little kids play zombie games :D

FF1, before the days of the SNES even

My level was too low for the Earth Cave, let alone fight Lich, but I was there treasure hunting anyway

HP, cures and spells became depleted, so I'm trying to escape, running from every encounter

Then...random encounter.......who will it be this time *music DO-DO-DO-DO-DO-DO-DOH-DOH-DO-DO-DO-DO-DO-DO.....FACK 4 GIANTS

:p that kinda thing was startling back then

And anytime Ultimecia shows up (whether actually her or through Edea) in FFVIII was pretty creepy, as well as going to fight Adel

You consider that a "normal moment"? Those dolls would have been creepy without the music. Granted, the music did make it 800 times worse. The way the music just stops and you suddenly see a doll jumping behind the wall (somehow....), and then the eerie music played when you confront them, plus a Golbez encounter right after, ending with his disembodied arm slowly crawling to the crystal (as your party inexplicably did nothing to intervene). Yeah, none of that really made any sense but it was pretty creepy. Maybe less so if you weren't 8 the first time you played the game, but still.

Lol! That part would've scared me too, if it weren't for the comical music.

Anyways, the Trap Doors and especially the Demon Wall in IV are pretty frightening, now that I think about it. VII's was pretty bad too with that creepy heartbeat and XII's was just really hard.

And I guess Yunalesca is pretty creepy too.
