Well I figured it belongs in here even though this is more about the launch because I don't play World of Warcraft (yet!) World of Warcraft, Wrath of The Lich King officially went on sale in the uk 3hours and 38 minutes ago at time of writing. I was there, I sold the second or third copy to pass through our hands.

It cost Blizzard £40,000 apparently to set this evening up and well, I can well believe it. We had everything from cute girls in mini-skirts, stockings and knee high boots (pity they had one size fits no one t-shirts on though I congratulate some of them for doing sterling attempts to make them look more fitting including the one who had me tie it as tight as I possibly can, I think she might need to cut that off or find me and ask :jokey: lol) to ice sculptures. In 2.5 hours we had a massive number of customers pass through the tills and well, it was pretty damn bad my back hurts more than I thought possible heck even my hands feel the pain right now. Going back to work at 16:30 does not appeal to me at all but hell it was good fun we got offered a flashing by one customer, she was quite cute but she wanted our limited hats which were given to us by Blizzard (they had ! and ? symbols on them I have one of each :D I only wore it because 5 cute girls battered their eyelashes at me and asked nicely when I had my hair spiked! I caved, I am weak they were hot I was putty!)

After we'd finished with our massive line of customers the Blizzard people were really happy with our work and even said "well we're going to see about getting a list together of who worked here tonight, what systems you have and see about sending you free stuff" So I am very happy about this. Free stuff is always welcome as are cute girls! My boss was happy with me and a friend too for we came out with a great idea of selling our bags for life to people tonight so we have some kudos points :D this is always good for me because I seek favours occassionally.

So who brought it, did anyone come to HMV Oxford Circus today and get their copy, who wants it and do I cave in and begin playing WoW?

I quit playing WoW about a month and a half ago or something along those lines. I have no plans on going back because nothing in the expansion particularly interested me.

The new zones are beautiful, although my favorite is still good ol Nagrand. The Death Knights are amazingly fun to play, but questing in Outland is ridiculous now. Everywhere you go there's already 20+ DK's killing the mobs you need. At least they could have upped the respawn rate or something, they had to have known this would happen.

Of course, NOW they allow online purchase. All of 12 hours after it's too late to cancel my WotLK shipment - which could take a week. Sigh.

Bugged mobs are extremely common. I'd say I run into a couple everyday. If they start evading everything you do, best thing is just to walk away.

Well after two days and some odd hours mine and my wifes DK's are both 70. She decided to respec to Blood and we've been just destroying any elite we face. At level 65 in Nagrand we killed every elite for every quest, and were able to 3-man Durn The Hungerer with another DK, level 66 Frost.

Now we're questing Northrend and it's pretty fun overall. We started in Howling Fjord but the quests quickly got boring so we moved over to Borean Tundra and we're just loving it.

The Death Knight population toned down a lot, as I hardly ever see any now in Northrend, nothing like in Outland where we are over populated.

Oh on a side note, did everybody enjoy the free blizzard bear we got in the mail this morning? it's adorable.

Finally got it this morning! I've played DK a bit - was shocked that the name I decided on was available (Isold). She's pretty cool to play, but it didn't take long before I went back to my 70 for levelling. Went to Borean, it's great there!

I got stuck doing the same thing I always do. I get the quests done to quick and I get stuck with being at least 2 levels lower than the quest I have. :/

Chestpiece and Gloves for the 10 man versions, yes. The exponentially better 25 man versions can still only be acquired from raids.

I really do think that WotLK content is exponentially better than anything that came out of BC. I'm really hoping the T8 raids up the difficulty by a bit. Nothing as buttfuckingly hard as SWP, but something that'll present a little bit of a challenge.

It isn't about making content accessible to players. It's about making content that was once attained through actually playing endgame available to players who just popped up and did some heroics. I'm sorry if I play video games for a challenge and escape from the boredom of reality. I don't really care to have everything handed to me on a silver platter so much as I care to actually earn the things I obtain. But hey, that's just me I guess.

PS T4-T6 weren't hard to get to begin with. You didn't actually have to go through hell, just have the skills and abilities to actually meet the requirements. If you honestly think nerfing the hell out of Illidan so tanks could stand in the fire and not use actual strategies to defeat him is a good thing, that's really a shame. Same goes for Sunwell. That place is a fucking joke now.

No. It is a pretty valid concern when half the game is cakewalk and the other half isn't interesting. There is a huge difference between making the game more acceptable and accessible to new players and making the entire thing a piece of cake. Guilds that could not beat Illidan or Kil'jaeden for the life of them before the patch and then walking in, directly after the patch, and one shotting them without any deaths is completely ridiculous and unacceptable to me. Players with absolutely no skill should not be pandered to simply because it makes them feel special.


Hell, not 2 months after BC was released finding a group for Strat or Scholo was next to impossible, and what happened? new players missed out on a lot of content and gear.

I was relatively new when BC came out and I still managed to experience all of the old content. If a person wants to experience something, they will try their best to experience it. People still do that crap to this day.


Now, Blizz learned from that, and now new players will have a fighting chance. So yeah, I'm down with it. Less QQ more pew pew.

Again, walking into Illidan without any previous knowledge of the fight and killing him without anything even closely resembling a strategy isn't giving them a fighting chance. It's giving them free gear. If they want players to experience old content, they should experience it on the same level as the other people. Difficulty intact, not ruined.

Just to get a grasp on the situation, when exactly did you start playing WoW? And when, if ever, did you kill Illidan?

I think blizz needs to stop sticking their collective noses up the US's ass (no offence intended).

well back to the topic, I think LK is great, loveing my unholy DK and im of the opinion that once more of the hero classes are released we will be seeing harder raids coming in, blizz will prolly listen if we kick up enough of a stink.

You can piss and moan about it all you like but the fact is more people are playing than ever, WotLK was the fastest-selling PC launch ever, and they're showing no signs at all of slowing down.

It wasn't super difficult to begin with. It was difficult, yes, but so long as you knew what you were doing and played with like-minded individuals you could get pretty far. Hell, the worst of the guilds on my old server killed Illidan pre-nerf without even trying. Skill should equal gear, not simply showing up.

What's even better, is that I was just on the WoW general topic forums with people complaining that the bear isn't good enough because they've been paying 15$ since 2004.

After spending some time playing I can safely say that Howling Fjord is one of my favorite zones in the entire game and it is truly awesome. I mean, I like Borean Tundra, it's fun and there are sapient walruses and sapient walrus moai. But Howling Fjord is just... whoa. Once you climb out of the canyon Valgarde is in, it's glorious.

I'm the kind of player that loves "easy" but I agree with Bunny. I think it a shame players who actually understand the game and strategy don't get anything special for their troubles.

I'm perfectly ok with good players getting stuff I will never get as a casual player. They put more effort, should get more stuff.

That said, I love that I can buy or find good stuff on drops too. I think "epics" should be available to us bad players too, just make some of the stuff exclusive to super hard dungeons. This way the Bunny's of the world can get their badge of honor and I can still get my +70 stamina gear too :D
