View Full Version : Twilight Movie (Mark Spoilers?)

I'm all tense over the Twilight movie coming out Friday. I want to seeeeeee it! ARGH!

Sad thing is, I read the book a week ago. And then the next three of the series over the course of the week. I read all four books in six days, and it only took me that long 'cause I work full time.

Anyone else as retardedly excited as me?!? This <img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /> is absolute crack.

Also, how do you feel about the casting? I'm going to be too lazy to look up the actors' names but... I don't find the actor for Edward particularly attractive, but he does the sexy eyes so freaking well that I'm down with it. And his voice is perfect. His face isn't great but his acting makes him hot, I guess.

I love the actress for Bella though. She's better than the book's Bella, I think. The book's character could be such a tragic little princess, which could get kind of pathetic. The actress for the movie adds a bit of strength that I didn't think came through enough in the book's character.

Emmet is also hot. Alice isn't pixie-ish enough. Rosalie is a Latina that they made into a pale blonde, which just looks bizzare, and Jasper looks like a scary fish dude. I don't like the actress who plays Esme, but the guy who plays Carlisle is cool. Jacob is foxy and I liked the Charlie.

ARGH I HATE HOW ADDICTED I AM TO THIS CRAP! I AM SUCH A GODDAMN GIRL!

Hahaha, Shlup, me too. xD I have midnight showing tickets on Thursday night.

I think Edward Cullen is PERFECTLY cast. I also agree with your Bella assessment. I like her in the movie more than the book. I think I'll like the movie more than the book.

I really like Alice, but I wasn't crazy about how the other vampires were cast. I love Jacob!

Shlup
11-18-2008, 01:56 AM
I may like the movie more than the book too. I think they'll take out or play down the stuff from the books that made me roll my eyes. Or, at least, I really hope they will. I've seen small changes in the trailers already that have made me think "that's so much better than how it was described in the book."

I just wish they could make each book into two or three movies. ~D:

I'm sad that I'm too responsible of a person to go to the midnight showing, having to teach devil children the next day. Bah. I haven't yet decided whether I want to go with my friends or bribe BJ to take me with promises or epic sex after. I wonder if he's into biting...

Rye

I didn't like the books that much. I love the story of it, but I cringe at a lot of stuff, like Bella being so pathetic, and how like, controlling and near domestic abusive Edward is to her. It's really the writing I don't like, if truth be told. D:

I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE PORT ANGELES SCENE.

Shlup
11-18-2008, 02:06 AM
I can't say I disagree on any particular point. The story, overall, I loved, but I did literally cringe. Probably at the same things you did.

I can't wait to see the meadow scene. Even the trailer gives me a chill.

"How old are you?"
"Seventeen."
"How long have you been seventeen?"
"...Awhile."

They deliver those lines so well it drives me a little bananas.

I haven't read the books but I am going to go see the movie with my girlfriend because she has and we both think it will be terrible.

According to her (and some other people) the casting doesn't fit well with how the book made the characters seem. The only characters they think fit perfectly are Bella and Carlisle. Edward kinda fits, but only kinda and he's ugly and doesn't have the "eternal" vampire look.

I also find it funny that the studio distributing it has been in business for less than two years and hasn't had a single movie gross over 25 million dollars in hits history or something like this (read this stuff somewhere). Also, the person directing it has directed four other movies and they have all been terrible except Thirteen. Which was okay.

I think this movie will be bad but it doesn't matter because it will gross several hundred million dollars because of its tween fanbase. This depresses me because excellent movies fail in its stead.

P.S. I do like the attitude of the guy who is playing Edward, he seems pretty laid back and cool. Likewise to the girl playing Bella.

I've never read any of these. But yeah, I heard the writing is pretty atrocious and the books are so sappy it gets sickening. Though I also read that Kristen Stewart made them do script rewrites because she refused to read "cheesy lines".

I'll most likely see it, if only for lol-factor.

I KNOW! I read the first two and thought "huh, those were okay...vampire novels, but I've definitely read worse teen vampire novels than that, definitely" and then around the time the third one comes out all the girls at my school are like OH MY GOD EDWARD IT HOT DO YOU THINK EDWARD IS HOT? And now...NOW...they all have the same shirt with Edwards face on it!

That being said, I liked the books and I'll probably be going to the midnight showing with my super mega twilight fangirl of a cousin :p

THE JACKAL

The fact that it's a fad has slightly less than nothing to do with anything. The fact that it is of poor quality is. LotR is a fad, doesn't make it a bad series of books.

Oh, and that if the writer obeys her religion she gave a significant sum to "Yes on 8" campaigns. Not saying she does. But she might.

I fail to see how Rob Pattinson is "inhumany beautiful," but I like him and he can act, so whatev'. Taylor Lautner is ridiculously pretty but he's gonna have to grow a loooot or they'll have to use CGI for him to be post-Twilight Jacob. xD

I love the casting for Bella and Alice especially, and most of the others seem okay, but Rosalie and Carlisle are SO off.

After reading a few things about the movie and book I have come to the conclusion that Stephanie Meyer is a massive hack and should be burned to death.

Hey, I agree and I'm still a fan. Stephenie Meyer shouldn't be allowed to be called a writer, but for some crazy reason the books are just total craaaaack.

Plus I am a rare person who is totally pro-Jacob and Edward-fails-at-life, so I read any page with Edward on in a HAHA YOU SUCK THIS BOOK IS FAIL kind of way, so it's fuuun.

I'm still pissed I have to wait a month to see it at the cinema, though. :(

Which was officially announced, by the way! They're starting to make New Moon! Hopefully they'll get a decent budget now that the first one made up pretty much it's entire budget on opening day.

Keeping in mind that I have no problem separating "book" and "movie" as completely different things, and that I always prefer to just take things as they come rather than nit-pick, I thought it was perfect. They took all the things I thought were dork-a-rific in the book and toned them down, and added extra funnies. And Bella's dream... super bonus.

I was seriously willing to just sit in the theater until it started up again.

I went to see this movie with an avid lover. She had already seen it 4 times so I sat next to her to ruin it with my logic. Now I can efficiently make fun of it.

POSITIVES:

Their eyes were cool.
It was kinda cute.
Had some giggle moments.
urm... I want to move to Washington now for all the rain? :D

NEGATIVES:

Painfully obvious when it comes to plot
Painfully obvious there are werewolves involved in this story.
The movie made me actually sigh in boredom a few times.
The action scene really starts from baseball? REALLY?
"That is the gayest super power ever!" proclaimed lekana in the middle of the theater. When he was all, "Let me show you what I really am in the light." I'm thinking oh man this'll be badass his skin will be all rotted away and he'll look the undead guy he rea.... are you serious... he's sparkling.
Edward... WHAT A CREEPER.
I can understand one vamp being a pansy and not eating people but a herd of pansies?

So all and all what I got from this movie was that there is a pedo vegetarian sparkling vampire that was stalking a poor girl.

Mind you, I couldn't sit through reading much of the book.

Also, I read the books and saw the movie, I thought that the movie was good in a bad movie funny way. I was laughing so hard at the generic Pepperspray!! I saw it with a friend that also read all the books, and she found most of it funny as well.

Yes, I think people fail to see that the books are written for "young readers" so you can't expect the greatest from them, but they are extremely fast reads even in their lengths, they just flow.

Oh, also, I swear the guy who played Jasper never spoke once in the film, but just stood in a blank stare. :D

Saw the movie with low expectations and it didn't disappoint. Some parts were cheesy, fight scenes were pretty bad. Yet, for some reason, I liked it. Ain't that fudged up? I'd definitely read the book, it sounds like a pretty interesting love story, nothing more.

Just because a movie is about vampires, it shouldn't be an excuse for bad film making.

The Twilight books, as horribly as they are written (including all the gag-worthy descriptions of Edward) are at least entertaining in their own trashy romance sort of way. I can totally see the appeal in the books.

But the movie, it was just bad.

Probably one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. And that includes High School Musical.

Instead of going for that smoldering trashy love story avenue, or even the, "hey this is ridiculous but let's have fun with it anyway" route, it was just sitting there. Like a dead lump of a movie. Yawn-inducing, cringe-worthy, etc etc. The only saving grace of the entire movie was that Edward is nice to look at.

In the care of more talented and capable hands, I really do think that this could have been a much better film. I watched it with low expectations, but even with movies with a premise as silly as this, I expect to be entertained. I wasn't.

Edward is a stalker, I'm a 17 year old girl and It's a shame girls my age are looking at some stalker as some sort of perfect man, lol.

The movie was rushed as expected, bad acting which shocked me esp. from Kristin..

I don't get why people hate on Bella so much. Yeah, she wasn't perfect, but she knew what she wanted and she went for it without hesitation. How generic she was allowed for readers to better project themselved into the story.

I know that wasn't why YOU went to see it, because you can see something hotter than all those guys combined just by webcamming with me :jokey:

I'd just like to add that my favorite part of the movie was when Ed revealed his dazzling sparkles of bedazzlement to Bella. Just about the funniest thing I've ever seen. Could not stop laughing when he continued on to say, "THIS IS THE SKIN OF A KILLER!!!!!!!" *sparkle sparkle*

Ahahaha. xD

Terrible! The movie was just plain bad.
James was extremely sexy though. I couldn't stop sighing. I'd totally ditch Eddy for him.
Oh and Bella's dad. He was sexy.

I don't get the deal with James. So many people think James is hot. He's an absolute dog.

Emmett is the hottest. Deal.

My totem pole goes Edward, Carlisle, Jasper, Alice, Emmett, Esme, Rosalie (seriously, she was supposed to be the most beautiful person in the world? pfft.) Edward and Carlisle constantly fight for first. It's a tough battle.

Ugh, I seriously do not get how anybody can find Robert Pattinson attractive. I don't see it. He's average-looking at BEST.

Don't you mean, lack of acting ability?

I kind of love of how he makes fun of Meyer and Twilight in some of the interviews that he does. It's like he knows it's a joke, but he just goes with it and doesn't try and sell Twilight as something it isn't.

Kristen Stewart on the other hand always has a bitch face going on.

Yeah, Rosalie was pretty, but I don't think she was prettier than Bella, which isn't right, 'cause she's supposed to be a teensy bit jealous!

Rosalie was only cast because she was like boning the director or something.

THIS IS THE SKIN OF A KILLER, BELLA!!!! Srsly. He kind of sucks.

Gaspard Ulliel will always be my Edward. :p Looks-wise, anyway. Edward has no redeeming features other than his hotness, which Rob Pattinson does NOT bring to the role.

Yeah, someone should be shot for the Twilight screenplay. I mean honestly, either they should be shot and killed or they should never be allowed to work in the film business ever again. Probably the worst screenplay in existence.

Robert Pattison reminds me of Orlando Bloom. Hotties who really can't act. But you sorta forgive that bit cause they're cute.

Okay, so Edward is a tool and the screenplay sucks. But Robert Pattinson is not to blame!

Then again, I've never been one to scrutinize people's acting ability; they have to be pretty obviously bad for me to notice.

The real tool is Stephenie Meyer. I wanted to throw stuff at the screen when she was on. :mad2:

Can't argue with that. Supposedly she had to be convinced to do it, and she hates it and hates how long they focus on her, but still... ugh.

But for some reason it's awesome whenever Stan Lee does it. xD

Got the book for Christmas. Finished it Boxing Day. I'm now a teenage girl and am in love with Edward. Not even kidding, I've grown breasts.

So I'm ignoring what the majority of the world is saying and actually paying to see the movie at the cinema. From what I've seen of it though, it looks like they've totally robbed Edward of all his good points in the book and made him cheesy and depressing.

That hardly matters. Creating something from nothing is a lot easier than going from a book with a huge fanbase breathing down your neck ready to lynch you if one hair on the character's is out of place.

Series of events: I was recommended to read the book a while back. Thought it was <img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" />, stopped reading halfway through. Took a girl to the cinema, she wanted to see Twilight, so we did.

I have to say, the movie was pretty good. The best thing about it was the two leads. It must be notoriously hard to act out such heavy scenes while looking convincing, & while keeping chemistry. I think they did a good job. The movie was decently put together in all, and the castly seemed solid. 7/10
