Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis)

How do you pronounce it properly?

I tried but it sounded so wrong.

I tried remembering each letter of the word and write it down myself, I`ve failed about 5 times now. Way to go.

I know all the pronounciations of the individual words, so it took me two tries.

It's not that hard, but sounds made-up.

It's actually pretty simple, mainly because the word is just a series of affixes.

Rye

It's not too hard to pronounce and it makes sense.

Now explain to me why Thames is pronounced "Tems" when there is clearly an a where the e is pronounced. xD

probably from french, rye. a circumflex over the a would probably do it (and explain the silent h)

new mo no ul tra mi cro sco pic si li co vol ca no co ni o sis

Just break it down into syllables, the way I do with french and japanese xD

I can't hear the pronunciation but I imagination it's probably what it looks like. Just a combination of all the little words inside it.

If that's wrong, I wouldn't try to correct you. I'm struggling to even manage saying it. :p

iiirc it's just a word somebody coined to make it the longest word in the dictionary, and a definition was slapped on it.

Its a lung disease, "popular" with miners.
And yes, Jess's rendition has a certain charm

Reminds me of some musical film I saw 10 years ago.

With the nazi's and the children
