Internet disconnects

So sometimes after I gt done playing a game and go back to my desktop my internet will just not connect to anything or mid way through a game it will stop. any ideas? I'm running windows XP 64 bit with a Asus k8vm mother board using the onboard ethernet.

Have you updated your drivers recently? How are you connected to the internet (router, modem, etc)?

Yeah drivers are all set, I use a modem then it goes to wireless router for liz's PC.

Have you power cycled the router recently or updated its firmware?

Sometimes they go wonky when left on for a long time. Firmware updates might also fix or break things. Power down the modem and router for maybe a minute or so just to make sure their memory gets cleared then start them back up and see if it helps any.
