Well, with One Hit Wonders on VH1 Classic slowly becoming my personal guilty pleasure, I thought it was only appropriate that we have this thread. :shifty:

So, what are some of your favorite one hit wonders? Take On Me by A-ha is playing right now. That's one of my secret favorite songs. Also You Get What You Give by the New Radicals.

Yeah, most of the one hit wonders I like are cheesy '80s and '90s, but, whatever. :p

They had two other minor hits, but "One Toke Over the Line" takes the cake with me. My musical partner toured with Brewer and Shipley during the 70's.

It makes me sad that The New Radicals broke up because no one cared about any of their other songs. My sister had their CD and there was some pretty good, creative stuff on there. It's a shame.

That's because "I Touch Myself" was by The DiVinyls (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTneO6UgRuM) Albeit they can sound like Blondie.

I would have to separate them by decades...
50's - "Rockin Robin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edaJP3Lp0Gg)" - Bobby Day

Whoever said Frankie Goes to Hollywood - strictly they're at least three-hit wonders - what about Two Tribes or The Power of Love? Neither as big as Relax but then not much in the 80s was.

Cornershop deserved to be much more than the on-hit wonders they were with the remix of Brimful of Asha. They're a great band.

Fair enough. Another band that perhaps could be considered a one-hit wonder could be Fastball with the song "The Way (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edaJP3Lp0Gg)." But they indeed had 1 or 2 more big ones. Does anyone even click links anymore?

EDIT:

Also Canon in D Major.

Not by Blondie.

Also: Heart of Glass, Rapture, Call Me, Maria . . . . .

That song by The Way reminds me of the 90s and how little I was. It's a good song, too.

Yaaay, this is my guilty pleasure too. My parents get sick of me watching the One-Hit-Wonder things on TV.

Well, one of my favorites is (of course) "Macarena". I don't think you get more one-hit-wonder than that. My very favorite is probably A-Ha's "Take On Me". I looove when boys hit those high notes. <3 The music video is any geek-girl's dream.

Yeah well, It's the ultimate one-hit wonder but I refuse to say it without at least trying.

yeah, how can you call a band like Faith No More on hit wonders!?

Because only one of their songs was a hit on the charts... Which constitutes a 'hit.' I agree their other music is great and with such publicity as appearing in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey they should of had many more to come, but the fact remains that 'Epic' is probably the only song of theirs considered a hit.

when every song they released from Angel Dust got in the top 30, with midlife crisis making it to 10 in the uk charts?
still wouldnt call them 1 hit wonders, but heyo

Fair enough. I just grabbed my list from a site listing so called 1-hit wonders and I couldn't remember ever hearing a Faith No More song on the radio other than Epic. I like their music, so it's nice to be corrected in this instance.
