The new extra second will be added on the last day of this year at 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds Coordinated Universal Time — 6:59:59 pm Eastern Standard Time.

So is my computer clock gonna say 5:59:60? I hope so. Wouldn't that be great to have a screen shot of?

In an old Ninja Turtles episode Baxter Stockman was sent ahead 1 second in time.

This would be funny, I'm definitely watching the New Year celebrations this year to see if it's accounted for :D

Any new years countdown discrepancy would only apply for countries that follow GMT, though I am curious to see what happens. Personally im hoping every computer explodes.

We don't create time, we correct our time system to synchronize with the orbit of our planet. Flawed system is flawed.

This isn't the first time we've done this. I remember doing it a couple years back.

If we all just used sundials, this wouldn't happen. :p

I just use NTP on computers and let it sort it's own clock out for me :p
