Let's talk about this abhorrent subject. Do you think it's as execrable as I think it is? Or are you a math fan? Talk!

I hate maths.

I get paid a lot of money to do math all day so I don't think it's all that useless. Maybe not for everyone, but without math you could never have made this thread.

The equation of all knowledge
∫everything in life d knowledge = Mathematics + CTranslation- Everything in life with respect to knowledge comes from some form of Math. (With some random constant)

I love math, and thats why I'm a Math major.

Math is an indestructible truth, perfect in all of its manners, and even its unsolvable faults are works of beauty.

I don't hate math. I liked it in school, but I wasn't exactly a big fan of it, either. I like the logic and consistency behind it.

Math can suck all my body parts. I hate it with passion. I still count on my fingers to this day :grover: /retarded

I love math. But somehow I feel that it is only true in our dimension.

Maths is a damn cool thing. I don't always like it, but most of the time when you sit back and look at it it's beautiful, because it makes sense. It's the rules for everything.

I love math, whenever someone asks me what the point is of studying imaginary numbers, I ask them if they do studies of religion then ask them point of studying imaginary friends!

Anyway maths can be incorporated into anything! Even english if you enjoy puns!

I agree I'm terrible at it and really wished I could go on without it. I was going to go to an art school so I wouldn't have to take many maths, but the school was too expensive and they with held a lot of important information from me right before I was going to join.

I wish I was good at math, but I'm dire at it, unfortunately.

Fortunately, I never have to take a math class again, I'm pretty certain, and it's not at all needed to teach English, so~

Because English teachers never have to worry about calculating their students' grades :rolleyes2

...because they have computer software to keep track of grades now

Math is the only subject that is truly and utterly necessary to be taught in schools.

(provided you know how to read)

I have a truly marvelous proof of this proposition that this post is too small to contain.

Calculating percentages is easy, if you train yourself to do it it should become automatic.

Well, I meant more advanced math. If you can't average things or multiply, then you're probably screwed! xD

I like maths, I just start hating it when it gets too complex for me. I hate it at school though, because I didn't grasp some of it straight away and almost failed :(

Math makes me happy, especially algebraic math. I enjoyed solving complicated math problems, because they're basically just logic puzzles. Intellectual exercizes keep you sharp.

Anyone remember those "Does .9999...(infinity) = 1" threads? Good times.

WORST MATH EVER. You realize that's only pseudo-math at best, right? God, I hated AP Stat. And statistics was a big part of my political science methods class. *head desk*

No no, give me real math any day. In AP Calc we'd be given this gigantic pakcet of AP Calc problems and we'd all get together over the weekend to work on it. It was actually fun for me working through complicated derivatives and integrals. Alas, I have forgotten most of calculus now, too.

It's the only non-basic math that seems practical and interesting to me. You're my polar opposite, Raistlin MacKenzie! My Dr. Wily, my King K. Rool, my Soup Nazi. I'm assuming your last name is MacKenzie because a lot of movies seem to have MacKenzies in them these days.

Math is the best area of study ever. :P Also, the mention of AP brings forth an irresistable urge to brag about my 5 on the AP Stats test. There, I did it.

I wanna major in either statistics or general math in college.
^That's how much I like it.
Buuuuut, I'm not sure what career it could lead to besides... math teacher. :O?

I've never been any good at math, and I'm screwed when it comes to doing any non-simplistic equations sans calculator.

I decided to give it a chance again with Statistics this semester, and I failed it so badly that I never want to take a math class again (then again, I have to pass at least one for my major...).

I really wish I was good at math, though. However, numbers and I just don't mix.

Knowledge in math allows you to increase your problem solving skills (in areas related to math), thus streamlining your solutions and freeing up time for better things.

For example I'm trying to figure out how much better it is to get 500 000$ right now, or 50 000$ a year for 20 years.
